All these threads about GP's motivated me to take a picture of my modest GP 100 collection. I have owned a GP100 of one flavor or another for the last 30 years. They are rock solid and have never let me down.

I currently have four in the safe and love to shoot them often. My family likes the GP-22 the best, the 6" is the most accurate by far, the 4" makes a great mountain/hiking/fishing gun and the 3" is new, but getting tuned up for mountain duty as well. I prefer the original style grips to the Houges, which I find to be too long and not as comfortable. I also have an Alaskan and a Toklat which I guess are related by design.

I would like to add a 4" Match Champion with adjustable sights in the future.

Anyways, Ruger makes a great DA revolver that often gets overlooked in the Semi-auto age. I know some others here have some very nice GP so I thought I would share.

I have a couple of GP revolvers, a .357 Mag. and a .44 Spl. Both had some Wolff spring and polish work to smooth the trigger pulls out . 2612CC23-13CA-4AE1-AC39-B2387A6F65B4.jpeg B06E3B0C-80D0-4F7E-9B1B-C520A1B0753C.jpeg

I really like the look of the half-lug models ECVMatt posted, that barrel profile looks great on these guns.

Stay safe.

I am a recent recruit into the world of Ruger DA revolvers (I have had Vaqueros for 25 years)
I recently acquired a slightly used GP100 4.2” blued model. I really like this revolver.
I took it to the range Friday with my S&W 327 NG.

What a great pair to have fun with.

I bought a 4.2" blued & 5" stainless GP100 357s in 2015 and recently picked up a 3" blued 2nd yr production GP100. I love them especially shooting 357. I've got slightly smaller 38spl revolvers (Speed Six, Service Six, Model 10s & 64)for shooting 38s only. If I ever see an old half lug GP100 4" reasonably priced I'll buy it. I passed on an old 6" half lug stainless GP100 in great condition last year and regret it.

Great thread for a great revolver!

I am enjoying my 7-shot 357 GP-100 with the hi-viz front sight. It is very tame with respect to recoil. Putting light 38 specials through it is like shooting a 22 lr.

Double action trigger is quite smooth. Rubbery grips fit me very well, like my old SP-100. It has high quality and ruggedness to last a lifetime.

I posted this picture before in another thread:

About 12 years ago a man I worked for as a part time gunsmith told me he had just received a box of GP-100's in both .38special and .357magnum. They were used but being the Ruger revolver lover that I am, and not having a GP-100 I took a look. There were 5 guns but only one was a .357magnum. I pulled it out of the box and noticed it was missing the hammer spur and had a 3" barrel. I was intrigued so I ran the serial number through Ruger. It was 1 of 500 factory Double Action Only, 3" barreled guns that had been issued to a Canadian Law Enforcement Agency that had been repatriated. This gun was like brand new, had no holster wear marks on the stainless finish and even the rubber grip and panels were like new. The cylinder had no play and the trigger moved smoothly. I bought the gun and decided to make it one of my carry weapons. I took it to the range and it shot to point of aim with very tight groups at 25yards. I decided to work over the trigger, dehorn the gun for carry and bead blast the finish. I found a brand new pair of the Uncle Mikes finger groove grips I like so much. I also found a Tucker IWB Holster that makes carrying the gun all day a breeze.

Sweet! That is one good looking and effective carry piece.

Stay safe.

I have had a 5", a 4" MC, and a 3" and still have the 3", converted from 38 to 41 Special. I don't care for the single action trigger on any GP100 tried so far. My Smith 19-4 is so easy to shoot, that nothing compares.

I really like Ruger revolvers. About 8 years ago, i bought a 4” for $299. Sold it like a dummy. Those days are over, sadly. I have two GP’s a 6” stainless and a 4” GPNY, which is a DAO GP100 in .38, that was carried by an NYPD officer. I dropped a spurred hammer in it to return it to have SA capability. I also have two Service Sixes, a blued NYPD one in .38 and a stainless .357 4”.
