I just stumbled across this documentary on youtube. Im not sure how I feel about taking the skill of long range shooting out of the equation but it is a pretty cool platform that could change the sniper spotter team dynamic on the battlefield. Here is the link to the documentary...

Sorry if this has been posted before!

Yep, I've seen this too. Still cool I guess.

Side-note: Am I the only one who can't stand all of the abbreviations for anything gun-related? Seriously, I don't need to be told that P, G and F are the first letters of the words, "Precision Guided Firearm" (which is also missing a hyphen). Also, why does everything need to be "precision"? Of course its precise! For me, adding in "precision" is like naming your hotel the "Luxury Inn"...

Rant over.

I've been telling people for years that this sort of thing was coming.
All that's needed now is a way to dope the winds between the muzzle and the target.

What this means is that a totally remote control sniper rifle is now possible.
A sniper could set up the rifle and aim and fire it without touching the rifle at all. That will take the human element out of the equation and allow near 100% accuracy.

Since the rifle would not be held by the shooter, you could build REALLY powerful rifles like a 20mm.
There are rumors that US special ops have experimented with 20mm rifles but the weight and recoil are usually too much.
With this new technology you could set up the rifle and the shooter would be beside it holding an electronic sight and controller.
In fact, there's really no reason the shooter needs to be in the same country, with satellite communications.
If you can fly and control a drone, why not a rifle?

I saw this a long time ago on popular mechanics, the concept at least. They had it working on a gun but it was a big, cumbersome system at the time.

The next thing will be projectiles with a small amount of fuel that can vector themselves to make corrections.
