Beautiful rifle...But its a dead man's rifle....But I guess, since he didn't die with it or because of it, its fine to own. She's a beaut!
Heck, most of the rifles I own were owned at one time or another by someone who's passed on by now. Like you say as long as it wasn't directly involved you're just giving it a good home.

The owner of the gun / hunting / fishing shop where I worked once asked me "I just heard of a cartridge called the 300 H&H Magnum. Never heard of it before. How rare is it?"
"Pretty rare" I replied. "I don't own even one."
"Oh, that rare"

Never have had the pleasure of a 300 H&H. Have had a couple of 375s, including a Ruger No.1 that was the nastiest kicking rifle I ever hope to own. The Whitworth Mark X was not as bad. My 458 kicks more, but is much more bearable than the No. 1 was. Don't have a 375 at the moment, but that's subject to change.
