The Infamous Ruger SR9C.... Why?

Yeah probably the case. Looking at this one for $249.99:

I wish I could find that price locally. My local FFL charges $25 for transfers. Add in whatever shipping and it's not that great of a deal.
I'd like to grab a couple for loaners / truck guns.
Check GearFire, which is similar to Davidson's Gallery of Guns. Search for the gun you want and it will show gun shops near you and their price for the gun.

I’ve owned a SR9c for five years now. Excellent price point and, as it typical for Ruger, robust and well made. My guess, and it’s just a guess, is that Ruger has never gained the market share it wanted with its center fire semi-auto handguns. I believe I’ve seen some excellent quality products out there that went out of production due to what I concluded as market pressure. The P series guns (P85, P89, P90 etc) were built like tanks but back in the day, the SIG 226 series was just more sexy...and more expensive to boot. I still have a P89 and a P90 that I intend to hold on to. Ruger’s are here to stay and represent excellent value.

You do know that your local FFL has to make money. $25 is not that bad for a transfer. The local pawn shop by me charges $20.

Bud's has the SR9C for $284 in black and $302 in stainless. Bud's has free shipping.

Had to pop in here right quick. While I’m glad everyone has a reliable SR9C, mine has not been trouble free.

After two trips back to Ruger, a replacement firing pin, cleaning the firing pin channel, dry lube, no lube, magazine disconnect removed: I still get random light primer strikes.

It’s been relegated to a range gun that I let friends shoot when there is a group of us going for some target practice. It was alright for the price and I enjoyed it at the range, but a carry piece it is not.

just fyi, Bud's has been "out of stock" for a while now it and price is up to $327 in black, for what that'a worth.

I have two SR9Cs that are very reliable. In the past I had a SR45 that had issues with light strikes with my reloads but for some reason not factory ammo. It went back to Ruger 3 times and it never was right. I gave it to my stepson who only shoots factory ammo.

The Security 9 and the SR9C are a world of difference, not even close to being the same gun. You can see the amount of steel here.
My experience with Ruger is they’re not very good at using steel. Mine always developed rust somewhere on slide or mag release. Probably best they forego using it. Not sure why they can’t figure out a coating like everyone else has to prevent this. YMMV

I certainly like mine, have a nephew that shot mine, and then bought his own, several friends have purchased solely on my experience, and I have standing offers to each of them to purchase theirs if they don't like it. No takers yet. Actually found a blued one locally for just over $250 and a stainless for just over $325, and I'm considering buying another as a backup. I got mine when they were relatively new, and have shot the daylights out of it. Purchased as well the PC Carbine, and the SR9c magwell, so it has a friend to travel with. Considering seriously adding the PC Charger with a folding brace and a can.....

The pistol being lefty friendly certainly helped influence my original purchase. Glad to see Ruger considered that segment of the population, and continues to do so.

Love mine. Just checked, inventory is low every where and prices rising.Wish I could afford to get a second one now. But just bought three more other guns.
