The 'Club Thread' has rapidly become an integral part of THR. Many other DA revolvers have their own club threads. As most of you know Simth & Wesson introduced the 38 S&W Special cartridge and the revolver that chambered it in 1899. That revolver, the Military & Police "Hand Ejector", was the original K frame and it has literally defined the modern double action revolver. In light of this I feel it's time that the K Frame be given its due with its own club thread.

Since there are so many similarities across the platform, I'd like to set this up as an info clearing house for all K Frames.

Here are my early post war "Transitional" M&P, M66, and K-22.

Edit: Please see post 35 by XavierBreath in which he's posted a picture of the revolver that started it all, an original Model of 1899 M&P. Thanks XB.

Hello,

Why not just join the 686 Club. K & L frames are all in the family.

Just because you're .38 special doesn't mean that you not welcome in your Big Brother's .357 forum. If you decide to stand alone I'll understand however you're welcome to join us as again, we're all in the same family.

G5

Happy Shooting:)

Blasphemy!
K-frame already had the .357 covered.:neener:

I love the .38 Special K-frame. My favorite being my 4" 15-3.

g5, I appreciate the invite. However, I think the K and L frames are distinct and deserve their own threads.

Remember the 686 is the M66's L frame offspring. Don't let those 686s forget who their daddy is. ;)

Bill Larry & RevolvingCylinder thanks for joining. Please post pics if you're able.

Maybe bigger in size, but it's still the baby brother.

John, welcome to Club K. The cylinder binding does not sound normal. I'm sure Old Fuff will be along to give us the skinny on what might be causing it and how to fix it.

Sounds like your barrel/cylinder gap is too narrow.

I recall hearing about gas rings expanding in hot guns and binding up the wheel on the earlier 65 models...that's why S&W moved the gas ring from yoke to cylinder in the -2 engineering change.

On the subject, the K frame is by far my favorite revolver frame size. The K and the .38 Special are perfectly matched for each other.

Here is mine. A 64-5 with a T Grip and some elk stocks... I got this gun for next to nothing, and it has the best trigger of all my revolvers.

I also have a 10-6, but this one has quickly become my favorite.

Yay, a club I can finally join. :) I have a snubbie, but its not a 642 or sp101. I have some 38's and 357's but they arent 686's or Rugers or whatever. The K-frame in 38 and 357 are just about the perfect revolver for my tastes.

Ill have to post some pics of the kids when I get home from work.

Hello - Gotta love the K's. I bought my wife a 64-2 snubbie for her 22nd b-day :D (about 22 years ago) and added a 66-2 3" barrel to the collection a few years back. IMHO, absolutely best looking guns around.

I'm in with my 2.5" 19-5 round-butt.

Also, I am looking for a 4" square-butt 19-whatever for a reasonable price.

My Model 19 (-4) Target Model

Bought new in 1978. Wish I would have gotten a 4" barrel. Chose the Model 19 over a Colt pistol in 38Super - should have gotten them both as they were within $20 of eachother at the time as I recall.

19-3 2.5-inch nickel
66-2 3-inch
64-3 2-inch

I love them all. K Frames are the en plus ultra of combat revolvers. They are the pinnacle of S&W fighting gun design and construction.

I own a 6" M&P 3rd Change (mfd. 1913/1914). Great revolver. One heck of a shooter with the classic 158 grain LRN - even with the really itty bitty sights.

On my lunch break, but welcome to all who've posted since I was last on. I must agree that nothing carries quite like a K-Frame. I love the size in that it's large enough to comfortably shoot all day, while still being trim enough to comfortably carry all day. I must agree that the K-frame is the pinnacle, not just of S&W design, but the peak of fighting revolver design.
