The *largest* handgun for summer / winter CCW?

SR9C or XD SC 40

I'll be trying SR9c and XD sc 40 for summer carry.
I think this size is very small and don't feel like going any smaller, yet.
Plus both are great range guns.

My summertime CCW - with a tucked-in shirt, mind you - is a full-size H&K USP-T 45acp. Between dressing nicely, a large framed body, and a M-Tac tuckable holster, it just disappears. :)

The largest I comfortably carry concealed is a S&W J-frame .38 with a 3" barrel. I've carried a 1911A1 .45 in an IWB holster, even in the summer, but it's not really too comfortable for carrying all day, or for driving a lot sitting down. My Walther PPK rides better in a IWB holster, and my new Kel-Tec .380 fits into a pocket holster with no noticeable bulge, and without dragging down my shorts on one side.

Here in Southern Florida formal business dress is usually a long sleeved shirt with a tie. Difficult to hide anything. Casual dress is usually shorts so no ankle holsters. My solution is carrying a pocket pistol, a SCCY CPX in 9mm, vert small and light. I have tried all sorts of holsters, with larger guns, including the type that you tuck your shirt into, and they do not work for me. I also use a belly band and an under the shirt shoulder holster. I really like this shoulder holster but wearing it requires wearing an undershirt and that can get warm.

5" 1911 IWB year round. In the summer I may just be wearing a pair of pants/shorts and a single t-shirt (cotton or polyester, never tucked in), and it's still no problem.

So what are your largest CCW summer / winter gun choices?

For winter carry, I carry an M1911 -- currently a Kimber Custon Classic (MKI) in a tuckable holster of my own design.

For summer, spring and fall, I carry the same gun in the same holster.

Winter or Summer I carry the same - G30 or Commander w/ Ruger LCR bug. For the most part I will carry the G30 with me every time I leave the house - but there are occassions that require a "less is more mentality". For example some work situations, at the pool, beach, lake, neighbors bbq, I need to be more discret and pocket carry my LCR.

I carry the same gun all year long

It used to be a Glock with a spare mag. It is now a 4" 1911 and two spare mags in a double mag pouch, though I do sometimes go with a 3" version when I am dressed nicely. I can carry all of these comfortably wearing shorts, T-shirt and an open short sleeve shirt. I also can, and do, carry my LCP as a BUG dressed like this.

Winter, the ole 45 summer a different story. I carry a J frame or Glock 23 not so comfortable. I have in rare circumstances carried a Beretta 21-A in 22lr in my shirt pocket.

I don't have a winter/summer or any carry rotation. I carry the same gun in the same position all the time. I do like my CCW small, Kahr CM/PM or LCR size.

I carry the HK45CT year round in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom holster. I bought a Ruger LCP and tried it for a few weeks, but felt undergunned. I went back to the HK and love it.

I usually carry a Glock 19, year-round. The largest I've carried are my Glock 17 and a 5" 1911.

I think my largest gun is a 4" GP100; I don't have a concealment holster for that yet, but I'll probably give it a go once I do get one (I like to have a carry holster for all my SD-caliber guns, even if I don't plan on carrying them).

Used to be 1 gun, same rig all year 'round...

CZ P-01 in HBE COMIII IWB rig. Works absolutely fantastic.

But lately, a different pistol has been working its way into the rotation, by dint of incredible accuracy and perfect functioning with any load...but concealing it is an interesting challenge.

Right now I am using a Bianchi M-100 that doesn't quite fit, but hoping to get a new rig sometime soon to try out. The gun is far larger than the easily concealed P-01, but I really like the extra rounds and the excellent accuracy.

For summer, I typically tend to prefer a short grip gun like my Wilson Combat CQB Compacty, a Colt CCO, or my Springfield EMP. It prints against a light-weight t-shirt a lot less than a full size 1911. The weight and size of a full size 1911 don't bother me, it's just the occasional protruding of the grip that makes it less desireable for me.

After reading the entries on this thread, I'm ashamed to say that I have never concealed anything bigger than a compact handgun like the Glock23. In the last 2 years my largest concealed carry gun has been my Glock27. In the summer if I'm only going to wear a single layer tee shirt I will use my Taurus TCP either in my pocket or IWB. I guess I'm just a wimp when it come to concealed carry.

I'm surprised no one has concealed anything of extraordinary size. Seriously, there has to be someone on THR that has a Desert Eagle as their CC daily carry.

S&w 4506

My winter is a s&w wesson 4506-1 no police issue I love the gun all stainless no worry about rust or having it in all weather. It is too big for summer concealed carry but it is a trooper, camping, hiking, four-wheeling. No scratch worries it being the stainless finish it is. I have been debating on whether to get a 4516, 4013, 4053, etc. something smaller for my summer concealed carry but still in third generation.
Its like carrying Robocop around in your holster....due to the durability and the weight.

I have regularly carried a Beretta 92fs or a Sig 220 here in Florida for summer carry. My current carry gun is a Smith 3913 or when I cannot dress around that gun, a "J" frame smith in a pager pal type holster.
