Oh well, this thread was OT from the beginning. Looks like we're done here.

There's a term for people who make these pronouncements (especially when arguments go against them): Threadsnuffers. If you don't like this thread, find another, I say. Plenty to choose from.

If you, RealGun, believe that what this Administration is doing has nothing to do with civil liberties, think again. This nation is the cradle of personal liberties and its future matters mightily.

Portgate had to happen, given the cast of characters loose in America today. It will prove highly instructive and highly catalytic. I think it will provide an interesting prelude for the March madness of "immigration reform" that should amuse, delight, and enrage many of us here. For me the two are closely related.

And if you and that liberal article you linked to would have been intellectually honest you would have stated that the failed attack happened under Bill Clinton's watch, instead of trying to blame it on Bush. Dishonesty and not letting the facts get in the way of a good story seems to be the norm here
I see.

Well regardless of the liberals that wrote the article, and Comrade Herbert Walker liberal Bush's friend Comrade liberal Clinton's "failed attack" - Comrade liberal George Bush is at the helm now, (has been for how many years?) and can not claim to be oblivious to the UAE/Bin Laden connection.

And of course he is not; which of a great number of people both liberal and otherwise should beg the question; what is George W Bush's part in this cherade? What is his cut on the big plantation going to be I wonder.

While driving home from a fishing trip this weekend I listened to a program on public radio about conspiracy theories, and time after time the researcher found hard evidence to at least give some credence to the theory. One of the theories with the most evidence involved the Bush family's ties to the Bin Laden family. When there is such a paper trail tying the Bushes to the Bin Ladens, and with the UAE ties to the September 11 hijackers being undisputed, there is little wonder that 70 percent of the American people don't trust the Bush administration when it comes to something like letting Dubai take over U.S. ports.

It's getting harder and harder for any conservative to continue supporting this administration.

The way this pig sees it "Portgate" is but a symptom of something a lot deeper and far more dangerous. Promiscuous budget overruns, lack of a rational energy policy, a lack of interest in national sovereigny, a bottom-line-trumps-everything political philosophy, and overly cozy intercourse with foreign "friends" adds up to the incremental dismemberment of this Republic, the incremental sell-out of America to people who do not cherish our bedrock, fundamental cultural values . It's not just Bush; he's only the latest avatar of the problem. We are looking like an addict bouncing pathetically from dealer to dealer, each time telling a more desperate lie to get our fix. Getting straight is going to be painful.

geez, +1 again longeyes. you never fail to please. here, here to being a muddy pig.

Since you saw fit to play the race card, you might as well go all in and throw out xenophobe also.

I'll admit it--when it comes to Muslims, I am now officially racist. My apologies to all the civilized Muslims out there, and I'm sure there are some somewhere, but the headlines I've seen over the past few weeks--"16 Killed in Cartoon Protests"--have driven me over the edge. I have visions of Porky Pig and Donald Duck lying dead in the street, killed by Goofy using a giant sledge hammer. I'm not a big fan of any of the religions that grew out of the superstitions of the Semetic tribes of the Near East--Judaism, Christianity, or Islam--but at least the Christians and the Jews aren't killing each other over the words of Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse. I don't want these damned fools anywhere near our ports.

Bdeabdeabdea, Th-th-th-that's all, folks.

I really don't care anymore. I'm an anti-semite if I have problems with Israel. I'm a racist for being an advocate for immigration reform or being against turning 27 of our ports over to a nation with close ties to Bin Laden.
Luckily, I don't allow myself to be defined by anyone but myself.

i don't think you're racist...religionist maybe. i've spent enought time studying medieval history and the origins of islam. i see a religion founded in dishonesty, greed, hatred and violence. i don't buy any of this talk of the majority of muslims being peace-loving because.......i don't see it. where is the evidence? i only see evidence of a continuation of 1300 years or so of violence and lies.

and as far as that majority of peace-loving muslims is concerned, if they so outnumber the extremists, where is the collective effort to suppress the extremism? it is non-existent. and for the record, there is nothing wrong with generalizing about an entire group of people, if doing so is appropriate for a given circumstance. islam has a reputation for violence and hatred of the west. as a nation, we have an obligation to be suspicious of UAE taking control of our ports. and if they want better relations with us, and to be able to dip into our pockets, they have an obligation to show us that they are a nation that operates outside of the sinister reputation that the muslim community has managed to create for itself.

Hard to speak up for moderate Islam when the extremists have the guns and will kill you and your family for speaking out:rolleyes: . That's whats great about this country you can speak out for anything you believe and even if you come off as a total ass( hmm, hmm;) ) and not worry about someone beheading you or your children. Much of the world doesn't have this luxury.

Good things in life aren't free. If those countries and cultures want to progress out of medievalism, superstition, and endemic violence, it is up to them to clean their own house, and yes, bleed for it. Something given has no value. Even if we give them everything one can dream of, it would still be up to them to maintain it, unless we are to be the world's big wet nanny ad infinitum.

As far as "the general honest muslim" is concerned, I am getting more and more disenchanted with the rhetoric. It has been high time for GHM to stand up and do something substantial and dramatic in our support for awhile now. Instead, all I see is types of population:

1) The intifada protester that hates America, burns flags, and trashes KFC, but at least does not construct IEDs.
2) The GHM that remains silent and passive, and only comes out to protest against us when one of us loses his nerve and says something critical of their religion or culture.

With such friends, who needs enemies?

Finally, please observe that Hamas, a known terrorist organization, won the free elections in Palestine. Your GHM went out there and cast a vote for terrorists. As one of my friends, a former Israeli soldier, said "Good. Now you all can see who they really are." Are we looking?
