Hey guys,

I’ve been picking up folders for the last few years, and have a couple I really enjoy—Spyderco Delica is my usual EDC, and I have a few Benchmades, and the odd Gerber.

I’m considering a Randall (Model 15), but I never carry a fixed blade, and it wouldn’t see much use at all. I carry a folder every day for light use. So, instead of dropping the dollars on a pretty Randall, I’d like to get a quality folder I’d actually be able to carry and appreciate daily.

I love the Randall look, the lines, the materials, customization options and reputation. I’m looking for the same things in a folder. Any recommendations on a stout semi-custom folder for EDC with a cost in the Randall ballpark? Who’s got a rep as the "Randall of folders?" (I know this is an "opinion question," but I’m wondering where to start.)

Thanks,
-- Chris

If you don't mind something that is isn't as sheeple-friendly as the average slipjoint, but is built h*ll-for-stout, I'd look into the Strider framelocks. Or you could get a Sebenza.

Sebenza. They come in large and small, regular and classic, plain and adorned.

I've got a Strider AR which I got as a backup for the one I gave to my BIL before he went to Iraq. It's a good knife (if overly large), but Strider's tend to scream "TACTICAL!", while IMO Randalls are more "classic".

Personally, I just want Bob Dozier to start making folding knives again.
