Too Cool

I wonder where to get dvd's of that show.

I love the way he spin cocks it.
I wonder if any variation of that spin cock can be done with a standard lever. I'd love to learn that maneuver.
Gotta try shooting from the hip with my lever actions.

Excellent little video.

not sucessfully, spin cocking (esp in a Win '92 or '94 b/c of the open top) tends to cause the round being fed to go flying out the top of the ejection port. not to mention that you have a rather high likelihood of "self wounding" from being hit by part of the gun, like say the front sight, if the "spin" is done wrong (a member here has fess up to having a scar on the front of his shoulder from this).

plus if you really pay attenton to how "the rifleman" is supposed to have modded that '92 he is only ever shown spin cocking an empty gun! it is modded to, as stated in one of the clips from the vid, fire every time the lever closes with a live round in the chamber. so my take is if the bad guys ever see him spin cock that thing (or otherwise close the lever without a discharge), then THAT'S when they ought to pile out and whoop his #@&. cause he's empty

I read somewhere that there was a screw in the lever that fired the gun on closing. However, according to this particular author, the screw could also be backed out to allow the gun to be fired normally.

Bingo.

I'll just take a 336 with a regular lever loop.

Good enough for deer.

Maybe not illegal, but there would be potential liability. You had better be careful. I wouldn't feel safe handling a gun like that. "Well, I thought I backed out the screw." Or if someone else picked it up without knowing that little fact.
Also, could that screw get snugged in behind the trigger and prevent firing?

Notice on some of those clips how the muzzle waves all over the place while he is fan firing. I like that show, but it is just a show.

Yes, I did know there was a Texas State Rifle Ass. I'm a member. They fight state legislation on gun carry rights, and being able to hunt in areas were urban sprawl has annexed lande far from actual city limits. You should join since your from Dallas. Your just 50 miles south of me.

de,

Both my wife and I are members. I've been tremendously impressed with the TSRA and how they work. Given the relatively small number of members, they are a very productive organization. Any Texas gun owner owes it to himself and other TX gun owners to check out the TSRA. ;)
