"Beware the man who owns just one gun. He probably knows how to use it."

This isn't me, I have a few. And judging from some of the pic posts, there are a few folks here that have more $$$ in guns, than my house is worth.

But I was wondering, who here does have just one gun, and has no intention of getting another?

She's not "here"... but daughter #1 has a SIGPro SP2022. She took a liking to it a couple years back so I gave it to her when she got her own place. SD/HD only as far as she's concerned. Unlikely to ever buy another.

She does, in fact, know very well how to use it.

NOBODY in our family, that's for sure :D:D:D Although my daughter's refusal to own one drops our family average down a hair....

But JUST a hair.

I've always been suspect of this quote.

I understand the concept - that if you spend more time on shooting than talking/collecting, you're likely to be much more proficient. But, as you notice every time a done-to-death "What's the best gun" thread comes up, the answer is almost always "It depends."

Having just one gun is not useful. Having a pistol is great (to fight your way to a rifle or shotgun) for close range, but useless at any distance. Having a rifle is also useful, accurate, great at range, but absolute hell at close ranges. Shotguns are just fun :) but unwieldy at close range, and are rather limited at distance.

That being said, I have one rifle -Winchester Mod. 94 .30-30. It's not the best for really long range, but it's a great brush gun, which is pretty much all I need here in Maine. I also have a Saiga 12...what more needs to be said?
And come tax return time, I hope to buy a 1911. And that's about it, as far as what I'll need. Anything else I get (which I'm sure I will) will largely be just for fun.
