The single guiding principle to armed conflict.

Humans assess risk based solely on their sense of vision, just as dogs assess risk based solely on their sense of smell. It is impossible to scare people with a loud noise for the same reason that it is impossible to scare dogs with a Halloween mask. They just don't get it.

This is maybe the dumbest thing I ever read. you've never seen an animal(or person) jump from noise?

I see it as being able to be a part of history, ala gunkid, who was before my time in the interweb. Al Gore hadn't built my part back then

"...they must be held upright to avoid staining one's clothes."

Written by somebody who obviously has never done long cross-country flights in a Cessna 172. Nor done guard duty in Bad Country.

Sheesh!

Then again, there may be a problem for some as to the length of the filler tube...

Give me an opponent who thinks having weapons with more range is all that matters and I'll beat him eight ways. Fighting is complex and can't be reduced to any one thing. If your opponent has that kind of one-dimensional thinking, he's a good opponent to have.

I WAS THERE I WAS THERE!!!!!!!
This thread is my claim to fame!

" There I was 600 yards from the enemy...all I had in the burned out house with me was my urine-supressed M1A1. My dog/spotter/partner was NOT freaked that I was wearing a Halloween mask, and because I can only detect threats visually, I choose to ignore the crunching steps in the snow behind me...I fired my .22 at the bank to dope the shot..."

What one aspect of combat is essential to victory and, if control of it is lost, ensures defeat in spite of all other advantages?

Will.

Will is THE deciding factor in combat. Period.

You must have the will to DO WHAT IT TAKES to win.

Without will, you have already lost.

Welcome back, Gecko45!

600meters will keep you safe from airstrikes? Nice try. If I'm off by more that 200yds on an airdrop, I'm up the fecal waterway without a means of propulsion. most are inside 100yds, and thats non-guided stuff.

When will you next be volunteering to stand out at 200yds downrange of a SAW? They're harmless out there, right?

Let me know when you introduce your Sniper's Wheelbarrow.

Wow...Just wow...

Umm...as others have said, the single guiding principle to ANY conflict, is the willingness and determination to win, irregardless of if you're just buying a new/used car, or fighting for your or your loved one's life.

That said, his scenario would work if it was uneducated armed mob vs uneducated armed mob, where both mobs by some freak accident exchanged their clubs and crow bars for fire-arms that they scarcely have any idea how to use, oh and both crowds are deaf to boot. Then his scenario would work perfectly. Heck, forget even about artillery or air-support, since chances are armed mob A will not know how to use any to attack armed mob B. At that point, just grab a BRDM, Stryker, or any vehicle armored against gun-fire and run all of them over.

OK, people. Attack the post, not the poster.

Even if it is particularly hard, in this instance.

Remember:
That is the dumbest thing I have heard all week.
Is fine, but
You are the dumbest person I have met all week
is not, even if both are obviously true.

Carry on.

Mike

You know? On second thought, this thread is so obviously infested with Stupid that it is not worth continuing.

Shaka, what you probably fail to realize is that there are a lot of people here who actually know what they're talking about, and who can tell that you do not. I would advise you to sit back, take some time, read a [strike]little[/strike] lot, and go actually use some of the weapons you're talking incorrectly about. Then you'll realize why this is just reading like bad comedy.
