I have owned and fired more handguns and rifles than I can recall. One of my most recent aquisitions is the Sig model P250. After reading a plethora of negative threads regarding this weapon on various gunboards I decided to see the pistol for myself. I was excited to see that the design is one of the most simple I have seen employed on an autoloader in some time. The weapon consists of very few parts, with the slide and frame beautifully overbuilt. It fits well in the hand, points naturally, and comes standard with Siglite nightsights. Yes it is a modular design, however, I do not currently see this as the weapons strong point, with the kits being very expensive at this time. After the initial problems and complaints, Sig seems to have worked out the bugs. All of the negative reports seem to swirl around the old frame style 250's. The current P250's using frames now employing a 1913 Pic rail and more aggressive stippling, seem to have remidied the initial problems. I have experienced no problems whatsoever with my example. Those that I know that own 250's concur as well. I will say that this Pistol is not for everyone. The trigger pull is double action only, so those accustomed to Glock and Springfield striker fired trigger mechanisms will be in for a surprise, and a bit of a learning curve. I can say that the Sig 250's DAO is one of the absolute smoothest I have ever felt. So, with that being said the P250 now, over its initial woes, should have no problem finding a following with those in search of a sturdy DAO autoloading handgun to serve their needs.
