You might browse the NRA sight, and even contact them for information. Say what you will, they have a long history of rolling back constrictive gun laws, and they might be able to point you in the right direction strategy wise.

Personally I'd say start going after the young ones. Start teaching them self reliance, and self responsibility. Preferably formally in school if you can swing it. Then they'll grow up knowing they should take responsibility for themselves, and not expecting the government to take care of them. From there it's a short hop to wondering why the government has any business telling them they can't own ANYTHING much less firearms in their own homes. I firmly believe that many of America's firearm restrictions come from the people not only expecting the government to take care of them, but not believing they can do it themselves because they've been taught dependence in our schools from an early age. So they don't trust anyone to take care of themselves and so vote to disallow the means.

Fortunately in the last few years we've been able to reverse some of that.
