Hi everyone. As I've read through the posts here in the BP section I've seen that the Rogers & Spencer revolver is a favorite among many forum members both from a design stand point and as a shooter. So much so that I recently bought a Euroarms reproduction off of Gunbroker. I'm surprised that a club hasn't already been started so I decided to start one. As with the other clubs, post a picture and you're in!

I'll start with mine. It is in nice shape and has seen little use. It has the plain fixed sights. Right now the trigger is stiff enough that I keep pulling it to the left when firing. I'm going to send it to Mike Brackett to be Goonerized. I'm thinking of having some custom grips made by Classic Single Action out of Buckeye Burl or Spalted Maple and I may have the receiver bone & charcoal case-hardened simply because I like the look. I'm also thinking of getting a .45 Colt conversion cylinder for versatility although I plan on using the C&B cylinder the most:

They are fantastic. Arguably the best period design percussion revolver and only slightly off ROA desirability levels.

Euroarms has been bust now for several years and parts are a problem especially the fiddly little arbor retention pin. Be careful with it. It's fragile and strips easily.

Allegedly some group in Poland has obtained the Euroarms tooling and will commence production "soon". Emphasis on allegedly.

The pin front sight is not great. I had an Uberti dovetail front put on.

Very accurate revolver!

My "London Gray" EOA Rogers and Spencer is my favorite percussion revolver. I have a couple of Colts, several Remingtons, and a mid-1970s Ruger Old Army to compare it with.

Welcome! That London Gray is sure purty.

RPRNY - Did you use the Uberti Remington dovetail sight?

No Rogers & Spencer fan here but that is some deadly shootin Dave. And that with 30 grains of Swiss 3Fg. A Seriously potent load!!!

Another fan of the London Gray finish on your Rogers and Spencer. Nice shooting too!

Jeepers, I don't have one but have often fantasized about owning one. I'd like to keep track of the "club" as a lurker. Any room for virgins?

My favorite guns. I liked them so well that I have two. One, acquired from gun Broker NIB, shown in the range box with one of three ROA's I have.

Yes your right, I am like a spoiled kid in a candy shop when it comes to ROA's or R&S's. May not be the last either. :)

Welcome RPRNY, Dave, and whughett. Hellgate - lurk away :)

RPRNY - I'm going to get a dovetail sight installed on mine. I'm boxing it up to send to Classic Guns, LTD to have the receiver and hammer bone & charcoal case hardened so I'll ask them to give me a quote for adding the sight. I prefer the profile of a Colt SAA front sight so I'll see if they can add that.

So, here is a member list so far in order of photo posts:

Even though Euroarms is no more, their webpage is still up. There were two barrels available, the regular Euroarms barrel with a rifling depth of 0.12mm and twist rate of 900mm and the Lothar Walther barrel with a rifling depth of 0.10mm and twist rate of 450mm. The Lothar Walther barrel has this proof mark on it:'

If you want to date your R&S here is their proof mark page showing the proof marks for the years 1954-2011:

I received a pleasant surprise in the mail today: I sent my Rogers & Spencer to Classic Guns, LTD ( http://www.classicgunsinc.com/ ) to be color case-hardened and to have some deep 1"-2" scratches removed form the barrel behind the front sight (which necessitated reblueing the barrel and also the cylinder so it would match). I had not received an update and assumed it was still awaiting its turn yet it showed up today. I must say the work exceeded my expectations, I'm very happy with it. Now to send it to The Goon and then have some custom grips made by Classic Single Action. I already have a Howell .45 LC conversion cylinder that I ordered while it was at Classic Guns.

Here are pictures with and without the grips. Before pictures can be seen in post #1 above:

Love the color case hardening! Looks great! Classic Guns L.T.D. does some very nice work and seems very reasonably priced. Please post photos when you get the new custom grips for it.

I sent my R&S off to Mike Brackett (Goon) yesterday. After he works his magic I will spend some time at the range with the gun firing both cap and ball and using the conversion cylinder - I have two boxes of Black Hills .45 LC ammo. Hopefully Mike is going to be able to make a custom front sight for me using an 1865 Indian head penny that I sent to him. This will be shaped similar to the Smith & Wesson or the 1894 Colt front sight. After I get it back and shoot it for awhile, I'll send it off for the custom grips. I want to enjoy it for awhile before sending it off: The grip makers that I've looked into have been really busy so turn around times are sort of long.
