Ok, so I'm at the shop earlier this week, reveling in the fact that I am now a firearms manufacturer, and fully licensed to build NFA weapons. Well, it's rarely a good idea to leave me alone with my evil thoughts for long.

There was a used, New England Firearms Pardner SB1 12 gauge shotgun sitting on the rack, and I happened to have an Advanced Technology AR-style collapsible stock set for an NEF single-shot laying around. Add those two components together with a machine shop, an SOT, and my twisted mind, and you get this:
SBS5113.jpg

A 10.25" barreled short-barreled shotgun, registered on a Form 2.

It serves no logical purpose, whatsoever, other than the "I could legally do it" purpose. I took it to the range yesterday, and ran about 15 rounds through it. Most were Remington Reduced Recoil slugs and 00 Buck, along with some S&B 00 Buck. It will put a beating on you. Being the sick individual that I am, I just had to do it. I put one, and only one, 3" Magnum slug down range. WOW! What recoil, and what a fireball! I now have a sore shoulder, and a small bruise.

Was it worth it? Why not? Does it make sense? Not really! Would I ever find a use for it, such as HD, skeet, or hunting? No way! Would anyone really want to pay a $200 transfer tax to buy one? I highly doubt it! But, the law says I can do it, I had the stuff laying around, and it was just begging to be done. Kind of like sailing westward, looking for a passaage to the Orient.

I would appreciate folks reading this paragraph again, and in original post as well the recoil , especially with a 3" shell.

OEF_VET, for those that don't know, has servied for our country, works very hard to promote responsible firearm ownership , RKBA efforts and so much more; read his signature .

HE is a shooter. He learned and earned his shooting skills and so much more through training.
He is NOT a NetNinja, Armchair Quarterback, WannbeAnything. He is the REAL DEAL!

He even admits this thing is Silly.
I think it is totally funny he can laugh about it. :p

Frank, that thing just begs, to be more Silly. I can help here. :)

Oh there has just got to be a Coyote brown hull, that can be cut down to 2 1/2" and loaded with #12 shot. :D

I mean totally Silly Useless loading that would be a hoot to blow up water balloons!

You know, I heard Team Walrus uses a special shell like that for ULTRA deep covert special operations. ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Steve

ps I want a pc of the action on that shell idea ya hear?

Might assist with recoil ?

Gotta fore grip that would dispense an another shell like a PEZ candy dispenser?
:p

Needs a laser sight, and I do not see a flashlight. You slipping on me here Frank?

If you do that in blue and white California Camo would it be CA legal? :scrutiny:

That way you could do the custom Mini Shells using Peters Blue Magic hull and be color coordinated. :D

Like I said, I gots ideas...Oleg keeps saying getting you and I together would be "something else".

I'm not real partial to forearm grip - lights and lasers are "where its at!"

Steve

Add some ghost ring sights and a polychoke would dress that right up.

Just looking at that thing and my shoulder hurts.

What's the total overall length with that short barrel?

I'm waiting for Surefire to come out with a foreend for it before I mount a light.

Oleg says it needs a bipod.

Overall length, witht he stock collapsed is 22"; extended, it's 25".

Weight?

Do one in purple, will match the shoulder...:p

Seriously, shoot some 7/8 oz light loads, I'd be curious as to the patterns. IIRC SB1 is a fixed full choke. 20 gauge NEF is fixed Mod.

Bipod? Humm....sling for sure.

Corriea I am sure will toss out some ideas, his should be good...:D

Tactical bird-bomb dispenser for high-speed, low-drag runway clearance teams?

Dress it up with ephemera, try it with rubber buck and rubber ball rounds.

Market it as a riot control device for budget challenged dept's. You'll be rolling in dough.

OEF_Vet,

You are having TOO much fun...

lpl/nc
-but then, you could always cut down one of those ATI heat shield/rifle sight units, reinstall the front sight and add even more kewl points... 8^)

What, no suppressor?

You're assuming that those ideas aren't being tossed around at this very moment. I'm leaning more towards an integrally suppressed barrel, built solely for slugs.

The biggest problem that has presented itself thus far, other than the sore shoulder, is the lack of a fitting name. Suggestions, anyone?

Couldn't you get the transfer price to 5 dollars by putting a pistol grip on it?

Just curious how that would work, can it be made into an AOW now?

bob

Add a top rail with rifle sights, hang a laser underneath, and add a three point tactical sling and you'd be GTG. :D

Wow wish I were a manufacturer. I have always wanted to see a full auto 10/22 pistol. That sounds like fun  . Add a retractable wire stock to boot. Would kinda look like a Skorpion, and would be just the thing to make the squirrels stop laughing at me.

Bob,

In order for it to be an AOW, it would have had to leave the NEF factory without a full-length stock.

I have always wanted to see a full auto 10/22 pistol.

Give me time.

Useless?

You have just single handedly made door keys obsolete! :D

Things to add to it:

Vertical grip
Rifle sights
Holosight/scope
Torch
Laser
Supressor
Muzzle break (on the end of the suppressor)
Flash hider (on the end of the muzzle break)
Bipod
Bayonet
Sling
Carry handle (like the ones on minimis etc)
2x side saddals with carts
Camouflage paint job
An accessory rail on every bare surface
Fishing line, hook and compass
Tactical corkscrew

I like the integral suppressor plan, now we're talking. Those little Aguila mini-slugs would be a lot of fun in one of those.

The name is a little hackneyed in the firearm world, but a dedicated slug gun begs to be called 'Thumper' to my mind...

Can we get heavy barrel sniper version?

And if we're gonna have Coyote Brown hulls we better get some CB furniture as well, ya know, for "desert ops".
