Its big game season about everywhere in America .
What is your view from the stand?
30 acres of hardwood timber that interconnects with others in the riverbottoms. It is a 10min walk from my back porch.
Don't have any scenic photos from any of the stands for this year, but this is what I've been photographing from stands last week. Using a 20-to-30X zoom to get an idea what is cruising through the woods. Have a "very large buck" in the area that makes these look like culls. Many times getting a monster is 90% luck more than hunting skills, so I'm still holding out for Mr Big.
We just finished a very long, and very rewarding harvest. I have only been able to hunt a couple evenings so far, but looking foeward to hunting more in tbe coming weeks.
Helped farmer where I hunt get his beans in,I drove the truck and the buggy. He did well this year, his yield was 54 bushel to the acre. Stand pics to follow will take them Wed when Im out. Almost got the big boy tonight he was 20 yards too far
That's him in the backround
Next to a forest, in the middle of fields of corn and beans, and the only place they can be reliably found is in my flowers!
It isn't hunting so much as revenge! Sweet Hosta fed, plump and happy doe revenge!
I've been given the go ahead on this place, but dang! It looks cold out there!
I will be in that tree line down to the right though, not on the roof!
Pics as promised...16yards to the alfalfa and then a 50+or-woods shot. Stand is Rivers edge spinshot 360 . 360 degree rotating seat with 360 degree shooting rail, rain fly is more for keeping me in the dark than for rain.
I haven't even got a chance to sit out for bow season. Opening day of rifle us saturday. We have 4-8 inches of snow coming in tonight. His is the first time I've had a real good amount of snowfall on the ground for opening day in years. I CANNOT WAIT! Will snap a pic from my stand if I rember on Saturday. My freezer is about empty so as long as it's not a snub nosed square head ,it's going down.
My ladder stand is in a shotgun / handgun zone but come opening day this Saturday I'm gonna be at a buddy's place in a rifle zone. So the pix from the ladder stand will have to wait until next week. Sure would be nice to include some pix of deer harvested from the stand. It has been a few years now without snow on opening day and maybe that's a good omen, ( I hope).
Its been a while since i took a buck on the opener. This guy came in to 20yds. He wasnt the deer i was hunting....but he is the deer that i was offered.
Congrats on the buck!
Here's the view from my stand. Fresh scrape right in front of it this am. New spot this year, with nice shooting lanes. had a button buck come in behind me half hour ago, heard lots and lots of shots so far too. Wind can't seem make up it's mind today .
