Sure, she has her own small collection, but it's all stuff I bought her. She called today from work and told me she was going to be late. Walked in the door an hour ago with a Mossberg Persuader under her arm. Got it at a pawn shop near her work. She said the guy wanted $200 for it, so she told him she'd give him $125 and he'd be lucky to get it. Her daddy taught her how to dicker.:D Unfortunately, the guy did talk her into buying $30 worth of 00buck, but a good deal regardless. I guess we'll be off to the range tomorrow so she can try out her new bedside gun.

Congrats, now look around for a used Mossie stock. That PG will go PDQ, I'll wager.

$125? Good deal.

Yeah, I figure the new on that PG will wear off pretty quick, especially when she finds out she can't hit anything with it. It isn't the prettiest thing I've ever seen, a few rust spots here and there, probably needs to be steel wooled and reblued, but just the thought of her walking into a pawn shop in full work dress and walking out with an evil black shotgun, just too funny.

Took it to a friend's field yesterday to see how it worked. Action is as smooth as you could want it to be. Recoil didn't bother the wife any, but we were mostly shooting my light loaded 9's. What amazed her was the fact that she couldn't hit anything with it. She was under the impression that everything in front of the gun just exploded, too many movies. I ran a few 00buck rounds thru it, but hit way high and even farther to the left. If I consentrated on what I was doing it was a little better, but that kinda defeats the purpose. I've found a nice ATI stock with PG that she's agreed to for about $35, but I'm not sure if it will work. Anyone know if standard 500 series assessories will fit. Seems like it would be the same reciever, but sometimes you just don't know.

Haven't done much with the 500s, but I'd be shhocked if there was any difference. A quick call to Mossberg should clear that question up.

Outers makes a Cadet stock for smaller shooters. I "think" Natchez has had those stocks available.

Mossberg offers the "Bantam" stock for most of their line, it is the shorter "Length Of Pull" stock used on the "Youth" models. Also, Hogue's makes the shorter length for the Mossberg line, too.

I put the "Bantam" stock on my Maverick Mdl 88 (Mossberg's "value-priced entry level" line), and it made a HUGE difference for me in terms of 'fit & feel'.

I have found that the pistol grip only stocked shottys are not for me. Couldn't hit barn wall from inside said barn with one.

Just took a peek at the Mossberg website:

www.Mossberg.com

appears that the Persuader line is made up on the standard 500 series.

If Mrs. Okie is of well, let us say lesser physical presence, the "Bantam" stock is probably a good choice.

The 500 series stocks will work, TTBOMK, John.

If you just HAVE to shoot it with the PG, lock your forward elbow and lean into it more. This should bring POI closer to the mark.

Once this is stocked with a short stock with well padded butt that fits Ms M, run her through some COFs involving multiples, and maybe a round or ten of skeet.Nothing teaches fast pumping like shooting doubles.

Keep the loads as light as possible. If she handles the weight, adding a Side Saddle should add enough weight to dull the kick of R/R 00 or even standard stuff.

HTH....
