They'll come after ammo next!

Regardless, of how the AWB issue goes down... we need to be prepared for a second wave of attacks on ammo. They first try to tax it obscenely and eventually go for caliber bans leaving the guns useless. We need to keep focused on ALL points of attack.

Due to the precedent set in '94, I think the AWB has a better chance at passing than any ammo restrictions or bans. California is the only state who has managed anything close, and that is the .50 BMG. An abusive tax is going to be a hard sell in Congress. An outright ban is going to be even more difficult.

First atk on ammo will be "AP" rounds, either that or the enviromental route towrds lead in general. I see even gun store workers call m855 ap, which it is not. They could go after anything that'll penetrate standard 2nd chance type lvl3a vest on the grounds that it's an AP round. Nevermind the fact soft armour isn't ment to stop a rifle, the media'll hipe it and the gun control crowd will ignore facts as always.

They WILL try for a "common sense" (vomit) tax on ammo. Something like 3-10 cents per round. Then increased more and more periodically. Also, restrictions on types of ammo will be on the agenda. The one not to overlook is going to be affordable imported ammo!

lets not forget that the right to bear arms also includes ammo. So it should be fought with just as much ferocity as all this gun ban talk has been.
