Thick Plating. Good or Bad?

I normally run 200gn .451 RN. I can't really find a good constiant source for 200gn so I am bumping up my load for 230gn.

I found some plated bullets for a pretty good price but the description says it is thicker plating than on other plated bullets he has seen.

So, is that a good thing or bad?

If your wanting to run a slower burning powder and higher velocities, it would be much more gooder. On the other hand, if your just wanting to load low velocity target loads or the like, you might have some difficulties getting the bullets down the barrel with low pressure loads.

5.2gn of W231 is what I run. So not high but not low either. Thanks for the info. I may just stick to FMJ.

Those will run just fine with the powder charge you listed. It won't be a barn burner, but it also won't be a pipsqueak load either. In fact, your listed load is a good one for that bullet.
