I'd vote for the .44 Magnum--just not a Taurus--maybe a 4" 629, or a 5.5 inch Redhawk, or 5.5 inch Super Blackhawk--just not a Taurus.
Both meet your general requirements, but the .44 Magnum (as you noted) is far, far more versatile than the 10mm (and thereby more fun AND more practical). Your .44 Magnum can accommodate anything from low-end plinking loads (200-grain LRNFP at 750 fps) up to stuff than will handle any North American (and most African) game (300-grain JFN at 1189 fps).
If you ever decide to reload, the .44 Magnum is a lot better choice--it's a whole lot easier to find your brass (and less expensive too--you can't use lead bullets in a Glock and your brass with last longer with a .44).
None the .44s mentioned come with plastic sights. If you buy a Glock, it's just about an immediate expense to replace those plastic sights. As time goes by, you're not replacing recoil springs, mag springs, etc., etc., etc. with your .44--your just shooting, and shooting, and shooting it. And while the hi caps for 10mm are nice--they are still running over $100 each (when you can find them)--and besides, they really, really make your ammo bill go up (at least for me anyway).
