I also prefer the Commander size version of the 1911. For me the gun just seems to balance better with the shorter slide configuration. One way I found to have a Commander or Officer's size gun in .45 ACP "shoot softer" is to use lighter weight bullets, like the 185 and 200 grain variety, when I handload my ammo. There's less muzzle flip and muzzle blast when I use loads that were made for the shorter guns.
Nice. I may not have been as strong.a literally new in box Colt Commander LW 9mm likely maybe a 60s gun,
I almost pulled the trigger today on a literally new in box Colt Commander LW 9mm likely maybe a 60s gun,
I saw one of those recently at the LGS that was USMC marked. Apparently they ordered a few thousand for Marine Corps Aviators. It wasn't in great shape but it sold within a day for $750.I'd had performed self- surgery right there and gave the the left one for that gun! I have a friend who inherited his Dad's. I've shot it, and it is the perfect CCW (for a 9mm) IMHO. Since it was his Dad's, he'll never sell it, but there is a one-year old boy (my friend's grandson) who will be very lucky in the future........
