I haven't bought a gun in a couple of years and am thinking about a CZ75B in .40S&W. I'd like some input from CZ75B owners, especially those with .40S&W guns.

A friend had one of the original .40S&W TZ75s. It was totally unreliable, as was the replacement. He finally threw in the towel and got a Glock 22. All of the 9x19mm TZs I've seen have been very reliable. I haven't heard about any problems with .40S&W CZ75Bs, but I'd be interested in any information regarding the 9x19mm vs. .40S&W guns regarding reliability, accuracy, etc.

I like the .40S&W round and have a Glock 22. I like my Glock 22, but it's kind of frisky due to the very light weight of the synthetic frame. How does recoil in a CZ75B compare to it?

As I said, I'm primarily interested in the full sized CZ75B in .40S&W. Is there any reason why I might want a different model (in the same caliber) instead?

Are there any accessories or modifications which most users recommend?

I'm not a new shooter, having been shooting handguns since 1976. I'm just looking for something different and would like the benefit of others' experience before I spend the money.

Thanks.

I have the 75B in 9mm and 40 cal both. They both are very reliable,I also have the 40B it is a great pistol if you like the 1911 style better. The 75B is one of my favorite pistols. The 40cal is reliable the only problem I ever have is with some of my reloads which is not the guns fault. The trigger on the 40 is actually better than the 9mm as far as smoothness and pull. The 75B is very accurate as are most CZ are.I have 9 pistols and 4 rifles so I do like CZ very much.

2700 rounds through my CZ 75 P-01 9mm, no failures at all.

The higher pressure .40 hasn't caused any kabooms that I know of in .40 CZs.

My EDC is a .40 S&W CZ75B. The weight of the pistol mellows out recoil nicely. It's absolutely reliable. I like the option I have between DA & condition one carry. CZ customer service is good and the pistol is acccurate.

Do you have any specific questions?

Only have 1000 rounds through my 75B 9mm but it has been flawless. Out of 25 handguns in my safe, probably the most accurate. Love it so much I bought a RAMI and now I'm looking at the CZ83. Good Luck!

Of all my handguns my CZ 75 B stainless is my favorite by far, accurate and dependable, not a hangup after 5,000 rounds and I feed it a lot of different loads.
I will be getting the Rami next also in
9mm.

I was originally going to get a CZ 75B. The store didn't have one in stock, but they did have a CZ p-01. I bought it and I love that pistol, and i'm a revolver guy. Basd on this oe gun alone, I have to say that CZ products are fabulous. The fit and finish is excellent. I agree with everyone else, a .40 CZ 75B would be an excellent firearm.

I like my CZ75 pre b in 9x19 better than my CZ40 or my CZ 75B in .40 but they are all serviceable.

The more I shoot my P-01, the more I LOVE it. I am thinking of getting another CZ real soon.

I love the CZ pistols like these other guys said they work great. My 75B 9mm has well over 5,000 rounds through itand my P01 and 97B have over 3,500 rounds through them. The 40 has nearly 2,500 rounds all are flawless so far.The CZ is the best kept secret in the firearms world today.IMHO their is no better value for the dollar in guns rifle or pistol period.

Had the 9mm 75B w/ 1200 rounds through it. Very accurate but hated the trigger, even after a bit of smithing- sold it. Next 9mm purchase (if any) will be a Beretta 92FS. It's the pistol the 75B was modeled after.

Blackdog,

Can you cite documentation that says the CZ75 was modeled after the Berretta 92?

In the official Book of the CZ75. They say that the 1911 was the inspiration.
Oddly, I thought it was the High Power all along.

I wish that CZUB would offer the Stainless in .40 cal.
Would turn the heads of the .40 lovers.

I have a few (cough cough) CZ75Bs in 40S&W; several in the nickel and the occasional one in poly. They feed ANYTHING, shoot soft, shoot accurately, and in general are exactly what you'd expect from a DA/SA pistol. Capacity is adequate (12rds), MecGar magazines are cheap, and you can do wonderful things with the CZ75B platform if the stock form doesn't do it for you.

You can't go wrong with a CZ. I love all of mine.

Is that a nickel 85 combat in the lower left? I didn't know those came without the firing pin block.

They work in entirely different ways. The Beretta locking mechanism is similar to the Walther P38's. I'm not a Beretta fan, the trigger reach being WAY too long for me, and without a cocked and locked option to make up for it.

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.

I've already got a 9mm High Power, so I'm leaning toward a 75B in .40S&W.

Can anyone recommend grips that would give me the minimum trigger reach?

How about sights? Typically what sort of sights do the 75Bs come with? My ex-VA Beach Sheriff's Dept. Glock 19 came with tritium three dot sights which I like a lot.

Most people say the 75Bs will shoot anything reasonable, but what factory and handloaded ammunition do your guns really LIKE?

Thanks.

I've got a CZ-75B in 9mm. Sights are poor. Trigger is fair at best. Safety is ok, but not as ergonomic as a good 1911 safety.

Meh. It lives in my safe. I can't get up enough gumption to sell it but I sure don't shoot it much.

I'll take it off your hands. How much you want for it?

While i own a number of CZ75s in 9mm (probably too many), I only own one Cz in .40 S&W, and that is a CZ 40 B (from the collaboration with Colt a few years back, before Colt backed out). I feel like I stole the pistol (only paid $225 at auction, $25 shipping and $20 FFL fees), and it has considerably more oomph than the 9mm (I'm chalking that up to the alloy frame). If you like the CZ lockwork, and a 1911 profile in .40, then consider this one. CDNN Investments durrently has them in the catalog under $300.

M1911, sorry you don't like your CZ. One person already offered to buy it - if I had $ I'd buy it. I am very fond of my CZ P01 - outshot both the Springfield 1911A1 and Colt 1991 I've had float through here. I'd love one in .40, have been considering the PO6 someday, when $ ain't quite so tight.
