Some media outlet earlier today claimed that they found the LiveJournal site of the VT shooter.

http://wanusmaximus.livejournal.com/

The owner of the site has posted that he's NOT the shooter.

I seem to recall yet another asian kid's site being called the shooter's site as well.

This is an interesting new trend ... find the killer's blog or myspace page first

+1 It's not the guy.

But tell that to Geraldo, who's babbling excitedly about this guy and all his "automatic weapons", "weapons of mass destruction" and so on.

Aren't you glad Geraldo Rivera isn't salivating over YOUR gun collection?

What I don't get is this: every news report except the very first ones report that the shooter is dead as a doornail.

Right?

So why is it several of these poor jokers of Asian ancestry with gunnie websites are getting harassing EMails, bizarre phone calls and the like? Right? I mean, the REAL bad guy is friggin' DEAD. Belly up. He Is No More. He is "late". "Former". Kicked The Bucket. Tossed His Last Cookies. Stiffening. Etc.

So why the attempts to HARASS HIM that don't involve things like Ouija boards, but rather cellphones and EMail?

:scrutiny:

I mean...what the hell? Literally?

Good question, Jim.

Maybe it's some sort of hoplophobic frenzy: a sort of panicky reaction against gun owners.

I don't know what to make of Geraldo's comments, but he was barely restraining his excitement.

Two things I like about this kid.

One is his Mosin collection.

The other is his 16 April, 2007 @10:29PM post which includes the following:

"I will be available for interview by a news agency to clear my name, talk about experience, and give my opinion on how the situation could have turned out better if other students were allowed to be armed."

Right on point.

Dead? First reports have the shooter in police custody facing "capitol murder charges." There are even pictures with an Asian kid in handcuffs sitting in front of the building in which the shooting takes place. Another picture shows the police standing over him and he's veru much alive wearing glasses wearing a dark jacket.

Update:

"It was second time in less than a year that the campus was closed because of a shooting.

In August 2006, the opening day of classes was canceled and the campus closed when an escaped jail inmate allegedly killed a hospital guard off campus and fled to the Tech area. A sheriff's deputy involved in the manhunt was killed on a trail just off campus.

The accused gunman, William Morva, faces capital murder charges."

This is reference to the shooting in August 2006 not today.

However, the photos show an Asian dude in custody - he could have been held due to the profile of the shooter. Who knows.

Witness survives by pretending to be dead
POSTED: 12:03 a.m. EDT, April 17, 2007

The shooter attacked more than one classroom at Norris Hall, according to police. The death total there -- 31 including the gunman -- makes it the deadliest shooting in U.S. history.

A law enforcement source close to the investigation told CNN a 22-caliber handgun and a 9 mm handgun were recovered at the scene.

FOX News said:
Police Preliminarily Identify Virginia Tech Gunman, Won't Release Name as Campus Reels From Tragedy

Monday, April 16, 2007

Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum would not release the name of the dead gunman, adding that the investigation was ongoing, and "we want to get it right."

I think it's a safe bet that he's dead.

I believe that the arrested Asian guy was a person of interest.

Somebody needs to let that jackass geraldo rivera know. The moron is STILL showing pictures he posted on facebook as belonging to the "potential shooter." Maybe after this guy sues the pants off fox news and geraldo for smearing/slandering him, they'll finally realize what a complete idiot he is and fire him.

eta: hey, I'm part Asian, like guns, am an arfcom member, and have a facebook page. Maybe I should start worrying that I'll become the media's next "suspect":fire: :banghead:

The arrested asian guy was a reporter. He tried to get too close to the buildings and the police put him in handcuffs. The news went nuts with the pictures because the reporter was asian.

This guy is a poster on AR15.com. He's posted a few funny comments tonight about all the hits his Live Journal blog has gotten today. He said he even got a call from an NPR reporter asking if he was the shooter. Apparently, he's become quite the mini celebrity.

He's even made the Drudge Report. His "I am not the shooter" post on his blog is the headline link on Drudge.

On the dark side, he's also gotten a few death threats today. Idiots.

This is just one of many reasons why I am reluctant to post pics of my guns on the web.

I've done it before but I wont do it again.

He looks like a decent kid, but just got stereotyped as a hateful gun freak on FoxNews..

..And a damn nice collection of Mosins.

I found this paged linked from Drudge right as Geraldo (yes, he IS and idiot) was showing a photo of him (the one with his carrying the Mosins), covering up his face, saying it's clear now that he was not the shooter but he is an Asian that fits the discription and has alot of "scary" firearms photos. Geraldo went on to say why this (even though it wasn't the shooter) should be seen as a sign that 'somethings wrong here.'

This is the lefts idea of logic. A shooter killed many people then himself. Here is a picture of some other guy with guns. True, this guy has no relationship to the shooter but LOOK... he fits the shooters description and has (gasp) GUNS... this proves it was the fault of evil guns. :banghead:

My facebook picture used to be me with an AR-15, smiling and wearing a shirt my university's name on it... I'm glad I changed THAT!:uhoh:

thats the problem with the news media, if you own guns they think your a nut. i`ll bet there is a lot of people tonight that wish some of us so-called nuts would have been at virginia tech today with our legal to carry guns. if one teacher had been armed today, think of the lives that could have been saved. but the media will not see it that way. they will be screaming for gun bans tomorrow.
