This is BAD news.

One event was an accidental shooting in the context of a hunt and not a case of mistaking a person for a game animal. So, it's the usual deal about being careful when handling a firearm.

The other? Who knows? The article gives no useful information.

It is bad news, it is sad news

Of course, the antis will use this against guns and/or hunting, even though bicylcing and swimming are more likely to kill a kid accidentally than guns or hunting.

The goal in hunter and sports shooting safety should be zero accidents; of course we cannot rest on the claim that some unsuspected alternates are more dangerous.

You can't even rely on the point that "no sport is safe" because "no sport" activity contributes to the national obesity problem, so no sport is not safe.

Life is the risk of death no matter what we do, and individual situational awareness is the only true safeguard.
