This is NOT a Gun Free Zone

I work relatively close to this town, probably 40 minutes or so. Next time I'm in the area, I'd get a kick out of getting a picture next to one. Sam, have you actually seen them put in place yet? I'm heading to that pig hunting island in Bainbridge at the end of the month (if the river isn't frozen over) and I bet my hunting buddy would get a good chuckle from seeing one of those!

Naw, I don't live close enough to get out there. Still proud it's in MY [strike]state[/strike] Commonwealth!

Looks like not everyone liked them.

Mobil link, best I can do. :(

I'm looking at what might be a 2 yr project in northern MD. I think I'll be looking to commute from Southern Pa.

Good idea but it's like preaching to the quier. It would be interesting to make a zone in the middle of the most crime ridden area in Philidelphia and remove all gun control laws.Look at the crime statistics in 5 years and see if the crime rates go up or down in that area.

I hate hearing that "wild west" meme.

I'm with you there. The "wild west" myths and misconceptions are not much based on real history, and are mostly a product of 1960's and 70's television.

Someone check on Bloomberg's whereabouts. I suspect he and Mrs. Giffords hands might have spray paint on them!

Seems like the PA local guys should do a weekly check up there with a can of graffiti remover in hand. Just as a public service! :D

The neighbors living close to those signs went out and cleaned the paint off of them. All good now. The police might have a camera image of who was responsible for painting them.

I kind of like this Commonwealth also, Sam!!! :)

I disagree with #30.
Nothing would change the gun or violent crime in the large urban areas of the US, even in 2015.
The reality, the big point most anti-gunners & the left wing media ignore, is that most homicides are red on red or have one dangerous, violent subject killing another dangerous, violent subject. :uhoh:
Crime "victims" do occur but they are in smaller #s than gang shootings, drug or smuggler actions, paid "hits" or other criminal activity.

No mayor, DA or sheriff-police chief is going to state they aren't in control or that street gangs/drug cartels really run their city, .

You live there Sam? I saw this on yahoo news a few days ago and thought way to go! Even better now that one of our own lives there! Oops saw you live in the State but still cool!

Bullet holes???

It flatly amazes me that SOME members here apparently are willing to consider that the addition of bullet holes to these great signs would somehow enhance their effectiveness.

All that a bullet-riddled sign does, is offer silent testimony to the IRRESPONSIBILITY of gun owners in general. To the non-shooting public, a shot-up sign PROVES (in their minds) that ALL gun owners are vandals, jerks, and generally undesirable as citizens.

I've been an active shooter for sixty-plus years, and even *I* think such people are vandals, jerks, and generally undesirable. To inject such behavior into a situation where WE ARE WINNING, is simply s-t-u-p-i-d.

I agree, that's a pretty cool way of implying that criminals might be faced with deadly resistance.

Too bad Pa. is so restrictive and maintains a registry, though they claim it's illegal to maintain a registry.

PA restrictive?? And they do what???

PA isn't actually restrictive about anything, by almost any state's standards. (Handgun transfers having to go through dealers is about the only major thing I can think of. Maybe that carry in elementary schools is of questionable legality.)

However, there is the PSP's database of handgun sales records which is "not a registry" but kind of acts like a quasi-registry with woefully incomplete records.
