I log on, I read a couple of things. I log off. I log on, I read a few more things, I search, start following threads. Three hours later ...

I don't even remember how I found this place.

What makes it worse is that I am easily fascinated by obscure detail. I mean, I just read through "Soon-to-be-Obsolete" loadings ... and I don't think I own anything soon-to-be ...

I guess, when you start chatting with the wife about the relative merits of hand-filing an extractor (looking up with the 4x:what: on) or maybe taking a couple of ounces off a recoil spring, I guess, I guess ...

Man, am I glad there's no V-chip for this thing ...:D

yeah. I learn something new every day here. I spend a couple hours a day between here, Midway, or just reading shooting magazines...

I almost said "I waste a couple hours every day...",

but it's not wasted, it's time well spent :)

Whatever you do, don't start doing Google or Wikipedia searches when a certain gun or caliber that comes up in a discussion piques your interest. I've had entire days evaporate that way.

In that case, since you're such a glutton for punishment, here's a few good topics for you to explore :)

-- Internal vs external extractors on 1911's
-- Magazine disconnect on the Browning High-Power
-- SIG vs HK
-- Glock vs XD
-- AR vs AK
-- One word: Garand
-- The perfect home defense gun
-- 00buckshot vs 04buckshot
-- 9mm vs .40S&W vs .45ACP
-- 5.56mm vs 7.62mm
-- Best way to carry concealed
-- Gun laws
-- Gun safes (aka, RSC's - Residential Security Containers)

OH MY! You're going to be stuck in that chair for days! :D

Tell me about it. Since I was a kid, I've had trouble with encyclopedias --- I tend to start reading wherever it opens.

I find myself absorbing stuff that I can't imagine ever having use for.

Ah, but not too long ago, I felt that way about 3/4 of the crud currently in my head ...

I'm glad to know its not just me. I'll often browse here (a few times a day) with Google in one tab and Wikipedia in another.

And suddenly its "Hey, why is it 5p.m. and why isn't my work done yet?"

Hmm --- more addicts in the Crak House o' Love, here. OK --- here's an idea for a poll: How many members are sitting in front of the monitor with Snap Caps loaded and dry firing while reading?

Think it's a Must Poll?

Pretty frequently I get "you spend hours and hours on your computer..."
from my wife.

Just spoke with my fiancee. She's still at work, and I usually cook dinner. She says it's fine if we have hot dogs and beans tonight if I'm having so much fun.

:) :) :) :) :)

Yeah, I'm THAT lucky.

Maybe we DO need a V-chip for this thing ...

51Cards...Does that mean you are 1 card short of a full deck? :D

My failed attempt at humor. I just couldn't help myself, sorry.

If reading those other "technical" threads are taking so much of your time, you don't even want to start reading a thread begun by Nightcrawler. Especially, "Welcome back, Mr. Nightcrawler..." http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=207390

Somewhere, there was a thread about "where names come from." Yep, that's it. And, as I'd said, the cop taking the accident info actually blew coffee from his nose. (My license plate, too). Priceless.

Er, thanks for that link. I think. How many pages ...????

Thought the same thing .... But, not too long ago at a meeting the owner gave us a managers a test ... Not a big deal but it was trivia. Well second place got 12 out of 51 answers right. I won first place with 35 out of 51. I also won a hundred bucks:what: So all that usless info was good for something. I also got accussed of cheating ....

You forgot the "What's your favorite SHTF/zombie killer gun".

I've had entire paychecks evaporate that way.

This forum and her sister, TFL, are very addictive indeed. I'll pop in whenever there is a lull at work, or when I don't have anything better to do at home. During the winter, I'm pretty much couped up inside from the time I get home 'til bed. I'd rather spend that time here learning and contributing than rotting my brain watching the boob tube.

I start each day witha mug of coffee, a couple cigarettes and visits to see what's going on on THR/TFL...and often find that before I've exhausted all the "interesting" stuff its after 10 am. Really is an addiction.
