Hey guys, need some advice here. After a long week in construction, Alittle over 60 hours, with a 15 hour day yesterday, I got my pay:evil:

And thus finially having some extra cash on hand, and my savage .308 build done:D I realized that I need a rimfire build. I have decided on a Savage bull barrel with accu-trigger. I just have a problem deciding between 17hmr or .22lr. I already have a marlin 60 in .22 but its old and having jamming problems that baffle me, and my gunsmith. So a good bolt rimfire is in order. I just cant make up my mind.

Any help appreciated
Thanks

What do you plan to use it for and how much do you plan to shoot it?

17hmr costs about ten times as much for ammunition as 22lr does, but it's more accurate and v-max type bullets are available if you are planning on a varminting trip. Personally, I'd go 22lr because you can pretty much shoot it all day for free. :D

Yea, I forgot to mention...

I plan on shooting, as much as possible, (which isnt much)

And for hunting also.

I really like the cheapness of .22 ammo

but on the other hand, killin a crow at 300yds, is admirable also....

I think you'd need to find a REALLY big crow to hit it at 300 yards with a 17hmr. I've always been under the impression that they are good for 150 yards on calm days. They are greatly affected by the slightest breeze and don't have the energy for 300 yard shots.

It sounds like you want a .204 but that's not a rimfire and certainly not cheap to shoot.
