i was at a local smithy to buy some contender wood and extra barrel and while he was looking at the frame he said it was showing signs of starting to crack. he builds custom t/c's so i think i believe him he also stated if i send the frame back to t/c they will replace it for free, because it was a frequent problem on early model contenders........
what do you all think? have you ever heard of this problem?

I haven't heard of the problem, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The gunsmith has nothing to gain by telling you that. He is not going to sell you a frame after he told you to send it back to T/C for replacement. I would listen to him and take his word that he knows what he is talking about. Contact T/C to find about replacement.

I aint ever seen a frame crack on a T/C and one frame that I got is over 30 years old and has been used with a 45/70 for all of those yearswith who knows how many rounds fired through it.
