I have an original T/C Contender & several barrels. Mine is an early model & my frame takes some effort to open. I have several questions. Will my original barrels & forends fit the G2 model as well? Will a G2 barrel fit on my frame? Also, what does it take to make my action have the improved leverage to open more easily?

TIA for your comments & suggestions.

Yes the barrels and forend from all contenders interchange. The grips are different though.

I don't know if they still do it but at one time Thompson center would upgrade the internals on the early contender to the later parts which had more leverage on the barrel locks.

Mike Belm is the contender guy. He can do the work for you, trigger job, anything. I don't think the T/C Custom Shop is still open. Visit the Belm site and there are a lot of tutorials about Contenders there.

Depends on what "early" means to you or rather exactly what contender you have.

The barrels came with different bolts, some don't work on certain frames.

The split ones are the easiest to open for me.

Do you have anymore info on which frames would not work on which barrels? I've seen both types but this is the first I've ever heard of an interchange problem.
