Rondog, check out the roller tumblers at Harbor Freight, they have one available for approx $40.00. If interested to a search under "rock polisher" on their site. The drum does seal water tight.
Just stopped as opposed to what other method of failure?
Reason I ask is that my old tumbler basically just stopped as well. It was a few years old so I didn't bother trying to fix it and just got a new one, but I did just chuck it under the bench rather than throw it away.
If wires breaking off like that is common I might try to resuscitate it .
In case anyone was curious the 400 tumbler from Grafs is a Berry's. The warranty card is Berry's and that where it gets sent back. Just purple instead of green or blue.
It's the best freaking deal I've ever found on what I believe to be the best tumbler out there.
I have two, they run nearly nonstop 24-hours a day, and they just keep going. They will hold easily 5# of brass and have room left over.
I typically load 5# of dirty brass and then extra media with NuFinish and dryer sheets. I find that when overloaded you get a matte finish on the brass that I don't prefer.
That's about 600 9mm, 500 40S&W, 500 38 Spl, 450 357 Mag, 400 45acp, 400 .223, or 200 30-cal rifle.
I wore out 4 bowls in ONE Midway 1292, and still on the same bowls on my Berrys.
