I feel there are imposters amongst us...

"Moderator HSO is putting forth an opinion that the right to carry trumps a business owners rights and that no business has the right to "post" their property and prohibit carry. Do you agree?

I firmly disagree. I am all for writing and calling Kroger informing them that their policies are anti gun and that an anti gun stance in many of their markets will effect their bottom line. This is exactly the way the free market should work.

However, I believe I have a right to own and carry a gun but that right does not trump property owners and business owners rights to post and to prohibit carry on their property. Do you allow anyone and everyone to carry a gun into your home? No one if forcing you to shop at Kroger. No one is forcing you to disarm in order to feed your family.

IMHO this is a where the rubber meets the road gun issue." rellascout

In NM the code states that a prohibited place is a posted place regardles of the posting specifics. From the NM code:
[E.] F. Carrying prohibited on private property. In addition to other limitations stated in the act, a
licensee may not carry a concealed handgun on or about his person on private property that has signs posted
prohibiting the carrying of concealed weapons or when verbally told so by a person lawfully in possession of the
property.

"I" feel that if one truly cares about the RKBA one would care how the anti's view us. Carrying into a place that you know does not wish for you to carry there shows the anti's that we "do what we want" regardless of other's wishes. Also in my state it wpould be illegal to do so.

I only ban people who don't own guns from my property...

As to your question,

It is a sensitive issue that offends some but I think I have the right to have the means to protect myself WHEREVER I MAY ROAM (and believe me...I do a lot of roaming).

I think there is a difference between "property owners" (as in my house, your house, or HSO's house) and "business owners" (Kroger, WalMart, McDonalds).

Businesses are public places...and as such they are different than private homes.

Thanks for letting me know to scratch you off the list. I have a right to defend myself anywhere and everywhere.

Calling a moderator out in open forum and calling him an impostor because you disagree with his opinion is bad taste and not very High Road. If you have an issue with HSO it is best take up with him via pm. The issue of private vs public has been beat to death many, many times before. We all have an opinion and are entitled to that opinion. My private property is my private property, not talking about semi public business, and I will bar whom I please form my property for whatever reason I please.

I grew up in the fifties and sixties when businesses felt they had to right refuse service to anyone (i.e., racial and ethnic minorities). They didn't have to sell houses to minorities, let them use their public toilets, and so on. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made that illegal. A lot of businesses went out of business rather than comply. I don't see a lot of difference between that and discriminating against people who legally carry firearms.
