THR Summer Camp

Reading a thread on here I realized the vast knowledge base that is on this board and how much I would enjoy getting to talk to alot of the members. Alas they are spread out around the country and I would go broke travelling. Then it hit me; a THR summer camp.

We could have Dave McCracken teach shotguns, 1911Tuner go over the fine points of JMB's classic, plus all the others that are basically experts in their specialty.

Depending on the number of instructors and how much instruction time they need we could have either half-day or full-day classes. Could also give people a choice and have 2 classes at the same time but thats a toss-up on benefits.

We could do a Fri-Mon with Fri for shotguns, Sat for semi pistols, Sun for revolvers, and Mon for rifles. Maybe throw a few short courses on reloading and maintnance in.

Seems to me somewhere in the heartland would be best as its equidistance from the coast.

This sounds like a dream come true for me and would be a great way to spend my vacation days.

New Mexico would work great. Would be a little bit of a trip for the East coast guys but I bet the wouldn't mind.

I wasn't sure what Steve's specialty was but we can pencil him in as entertainment. Maybe he could tell stories after dinner.

I have been known to have fired a few shotgun shells in my day as well; assist in teaching folks to shoot a shotgun a time or two. I have a few other areas with some exposure in as well.

I would like to learn from Correia, Art, 1911Tuner, Old Fuff, Mas Ayoob, L. Awerbuck, Pat Rogers, Randy Cain, Tom Givens, pax, Tamara, Kaylee, P95Carry, Larry Ashcraft and his Wife Sandy, his son Jeremy, JShirley, Rich Lucibella, LawDog, Johnny Guest, hso, 4V50Gary, Preacherman, Derek,Trapper, BozemanMT, SmokeRizen, Lee Lapin and his bride...etc.

Oh hell, we are going to need 1) a really really long weekend, 2) just a lot of weekend camps for me.

So much to learn - so little time.

Some forums I have seen do have yearly get togethers. They are usually in a city where (and when) there is an industry event for whatever the focus of the site is.
For THR/TFL it would be the SHOT show or NRA convention, I guess. Other times and places make sense.

I went to the AR15.com gunstock in Waco a couple of years ago and had a great time. I'm sure a THR get together would be even better. I'm in and will help in the set up as well. Can get there anytime as long as I plan ahead for leave.
