I have a number of different items that I plan to purchase in the future. I am not a defeatest and am hopeful that AWB II will not pass, but the recently posted text of the bill indicates that threaded barrels will be prohibited.

9 ‘‘(F) A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability
10 to accept a detachable magazine, and has—
11 ‘‘(i) a second pistol grip;
12 ‘‘(ii) a threaded barrel;
13 ‘‘(iii) a barrel shroud; or
14 ‘‘(iv) the capacity to accept a detachable
15 magazine at a location outside of the pistol
16 grip.
17 ‘‘(G) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed maga-
18 zine that has the capacity to accept more than 10
19 rounds.

7 ‘‘(43) THREADED BARREL.—The term ‘threaded
8 barrel’ means a feature or characteristic that is designed
9 in such a manner to allow for the attachment of a firearm
10 as defined in section 5845(a) of the National Firearms
11 Act (26 U.S.C. 5845(a)).’’

I'm eventually wanting to pick up a supressor (since I cannot afford a MG) for a pistol. Hadn't had a particular gun in mind yet, but I might as well get one for the ol' Glock (19) just in case.

I'm wondering if someone can tell me what a decent price for one is and the price I can expect if a ban goes into effect (providing that you can still get one. There was a post of confusion over that issue).

Thanks

What is their definition of a barrel shroud. Sounds like something they could say that the slide on any semi-auto pistol is a barrel shroud.

For suppressors, Impact has then from about $450 to $1000 for the G19

Thanks for the Link.

Impact offers threaded barrels for $300+! Another site I was looking at charges $130

Is there anything wrong with FTF Industries barrels?

So I can keep it straight in my head, if you already own a "high capacity" (More than 10 round mag) or a threaded barrel you'll be OK should this P.O.S. bill be-reinstated.

It just makes it darn near impossible to get them after, should it be enacted.

RTFM

Just look in the definitions section:

22 (b) RELATED DEFINITIONS.—Section 921(a) of such
23 title is amended by adding at the end the following:

24 ‘‘(36) BARREL SHROUD.—The term ‘barrel shroud’
25 means a shroud that is attached to, or partially or com-
1 pletely encircles, the barrel of a firearm so that the shroud
2 protects the user of the firearm from heat generated by
3 the barrel, but does not include a slide that encloses the
4 barrel, and does not include an extension of the stock
5 along the bottom of the barrel which does not encircle or
6 substantially encircle the barrel.

It does not include a slide which encloses the barrel

But a stock that encircles the barrel is a shroud.

After they increment bolt-actions in, Mosins will qualify as the cheapest assault weapons ever! :D
