Through Canada with a rifle.

I'm planning a trip to Alaska in a few months and want to know the process for driving through Canada part of the way with a longarm. I've heard there's a process and a fee ($50?), but was wondering what the fine points were. Whom do I contact? How long ahead of time is it necessary to do so? Is the fee per gun or inclusive? I'll be traveling in a station wagon and a trunk isn't an option, so what would appropriate concealment mean? Thanks.

I don't know... I thought you can't take firearms into Kanada at all. I'm kind'a interested to get the straight scoop on this one also.
