Hi Folks:
As many of you know, I am a big fan of Treso Nipples & Remington #10 caps, which has been my go-to combo for as long as I have been shooting cap guns (a long while).

Well, I ordered some bullets from Desperado a couple of weeks ago and I bought a few packages of Slix-SHot nipples while I was at their Website.

Put them on my new 5.5" 1860s that Rowdy Yates at Lee's Gunsmithing slicked up so nicely for me & did capguards too. Light springs, smooth actions, & never a worry about a cap getting back into the action. (Thanks Rowdy!)

They worked like a dream with Remington #10 caps.

Absolutely flawless.

Good product -- I will buy more of them in the future.

I get along fine with mine in 5.5" 1860s. Only quarrel is that I was used to the TRESO #10 Remington set up as being waterproof. Not so with the Slix. I guess the vent allows water in.

inquiring minds need to know
What is a cap guard?
I am only familiar with the little plastic rings that go over the cap to hold it together, surely this is something else?

A cap guard prevents the cap from falling back into the action.
A thin slice of the recoil shield is taken off and replaced with a steel plate with a slot in it.
The hammer is filed down so a narrow portion of the hammer goes thru the slot and snaps the cap.
But the slot is too narrow for the spent cap to fall thru.

I have cap guards on all my competition guns.
Never a worry about a cap jam.
