My DIL just bought a stainless Tika Light chambered in .270 win..
She bought a Vortex 6.5x20x50 with a 30mm tube for it. Well obviously, the rings it came with it are 1" rings. So my question is what do we need to use.
Here's what we want to do.
She wants to go with either Warne, Burris Signature's, or the original Optiloc rings.
So I found some Warne 30mm rings, but I'm not certain they will mount straight up to the one piece grooved base the Tika came with. They are the Maxima Permanent - Attachable Weaver Style Rings. they appear to be the right application, as Warne also offers the one's for the Picatinny set up, like EGW offers.
The other question is the height.
One of the technicians at Vortex said the high one's are what we need on the Tika with that scope. But for some reason I got two different responses from two different technicians, and they were conflicting, with one recommending medium, the other high. I think the tech that said go with the mediums, may have missed the part about keeping the factory original grooved base, and was thinking we were going to use the EGW Picatinny option. So I wanted to run this by the experts here at THR, as we obviously want the scope as close to the barrel as possible. It's not that I don't trust the folks at Vortex, they're really good people and usually know what they're talking about.
We already ordered the Warne rings (high) from Midway, they'll be here tomorrow morning. But if they aren't the right stuff, it won't be a problem to get another set on the way, Midway is great about taking care of things.
Time is of the essence, as we have to get this rig up and running quickly, deer season is almost here. And there is little more imposing than a 5' 3" fire cracker Daughter In Law, who is about as patient as a rattle snake, and almost as dangerous. And she can shoot, that girl is gifted with a rifle.
