Just installed a Timney in my Howa 1500 Ranchland that came with the three position safety. Pull the stock, pull the trigger group. Screw in Timney trigger group. Install stock. Done. Literally 5 minutes. No cutting, no grinding, no fitting.

The trigger is outstanding as it comes from the factory. I did no further tweaking of it.

That simple. Works fine. There is a small inlet in the bolt handle that the safety pulls an arm into prevent bolt rotation with the third position. Works exactly like the three position safety that came with the rifle.

Easiest upgrade I have done in a long time!

JDM:

1. Remove the barreled-action from the stock.

2. Unscrew the single bolt that holds the trigger housing to the action.

3. Bolt the new trigger into place.

4.Put the stock back on.

It's a two-minute task, and you're done.

There is only one phillips screw that holds the entire trigger assembly in. You don't have to screw it in extremely tight when you put it back in. Snug with a dot of loktite.

Make sure you remove the bolt prior to unscrewing the single phillips machine screw that holds the trigger mechanism in place. Also, leave the bolt out when you put the replacement back in.

Mine originally had the two-position safety. I had to grind off the "ear' of the replacement Timney trigger. After the grinding it was easy to replace.
