I'll be spending the day tomorrow shooting my first reloads (MBC 158gr match .38 special beginning loads with Bullseye and W231) and using a new chronograh for the first time (Competition Electronics ProChrono Digital. Besides not actually shooting the chronograph, any words of wisdom on using it and developing accurate target loads?

Shoot off a bench using a rest where you can reposition the pistol to same place after each shot. It's real easy for a pistol to get out of position - where one shot was the right height over the chronograph screens, the next one is right through the chronograph screens.

Just stand as far back from the chrono as you can, so the muzzle blast does not give you false readings. Also use the sun shields over the "eyes" of the chrono if you have them.

You might also want to use wooden dowels for the shields. They are a lot easier and cheaper to replace than the metal rods "just in case" you hit one of them. Never mind why I know this. :p
