I moved to CT, a shotgun-only state for deer, so I bought a 23" rifled barrel for my Remington 870 with the cantilever scope mount.

Any recommendations on which rings to buy? I will probably use either a 1-4 or 2-7x low power variable.

I'm trying to keep the total cost down so no Warne rings, please.

I run Burris Zee rings.
Used to run Bushnell Banner 1-4X.
Quality downhill since moved production, so can't recommend now.
Leupold 4X or 2-7X gets my vote nowadays.
My old 4X Compact is still going strong.
But then, so is my brother's 80's era $20 K mart 4X Tasco.
Regular rifle scopes..............all we ever use.

No "heavy duty".

One big thing......make sure you mount it right. Slide your cross bolt/recoil stop of the scope rings to bear against the front edge (toward muzzle) of the base slot. One is enough but might as well do both.

Keeps things where they need to be.

Have seen countless shotgun (and other setups) where folks didn't do that. They will shoot loose if you don't

Dunno how the scope handles such an anvil effect when shot with sliding rings.
My guess is poorly.

BTW, I have a Redfield Revolution 2-7X laying around, in case I need to scope an AR or slug gun down the road. It's been fine, on other stuff. Is my 4th Revolution.
No problems with any of them.

My deer rifle wears a Leupold 2-7X. Last deer popped was around 50 yards, never took the scope off 2X.
