Just sitting here half listening to the Communist News Network (CNN).

Headline news actually because in roughly 10 to 15 minutes you can have a rough idea about what happened during the day.

Of course the big thing is the California church shooting and the Alabama university shooting. Naturally some knuckle head calls in and claims the lack of gun control in his opinion is the problem. AAARRRGGGGG!!! I get so tired of people thinking that throwing more so called "gun control" at the problem is the answer.

I was always taught that guns don't kill people, bad people kill people. Bad people will kill regardless of what type of weapon they have. Besides, gun control only affects law abiding citizens anyway. My fear is that if we allow extreme control of firearms it will turn law abiding people into criminals.

You cant control violence committed by humans because humans are a violent race. You can only control whether you are prepared to react to violence when it comes to threaten you or your loved ones.

Before this turns into a huge rant on my part I would like to hear some other peoples thoughts on this. Also, if you know of some good websites or places to find positive stories of people exercising their basic human right to defend themselves please share.

This is a knee-jerk, boilerplate response by someone who probably means well but has not thought things through. To impose the kind of gun control that would be needed to ensure that no one can have them would be tyranny, and it would be time to use the guns.

Now, I don't pay as much attention to the media as some, but I have actually been impressed by the lack of knee-jerk gun control screaming I've picked up on in light of recent events. There are probably other factors at play here, but I like to think that the general public is starting to figure out that maybe guns aren't the problem.
