I have heard that TISAS or SDS 1911 9 mms have ramped barrels.

I tried to drop in a standard ED BROWN drop in barrel, and it would not lock up, or engage the safety.

Are all their 9 mms ramped?

Im a little confused here. Sounds like you're talking about one thing and asking about something else.

Does the gun you tried the Brown barrel in have a ramp in the frame like the Colts? Or is it cut for a ramped barrel like the Tisas use? Or are you just asking if the Tisas has a ramped barrel?

I have a couple of 9mm Tisas GM sized guns and both have the ramped barrel with the frame cut for that. I also have a 9mm Colt Commander, which has the traditional 1911 barrel set up, with the ramp in the frame.

Given a choice, Id go with the Colt type set up, but with a properly tuned gun, the ramp doesnt seem to be an issue.

I have two of the TISAS, both full sized 1911s one is 45 acp with the COLT frame set up, and I put in an ED BROWN drop in match barrel and bushing, and the other is 9 mm with the frame cut for the ramped barrel

If I remember correctly, narrower rounds (i.e. 9mm and .38 Super) have a little more difficulty feeding on the Colt-style frame ramp than fatter 45ACP rounds. Some people also want ramped barrels on aluminum-framed 1911s so wear from feeding rounds is on the barrel's steel ramp rather than an aluminum frame's ramp. And some people want ramped barrels for increased case support for high-pressure cartridges.

I do not know about that, my COLT 38 super, has a BAR STO match barrel and bushing, and never had a problem, and that barrel I sold did not either. I now wonder if I made a mistake, but time will tell,

My 9mm Colt Commander feeds the 9mm reliably and without issue, and seems to be lot more forgiving of mags that tend to make my one Tisas choke.

The ramped barrels seem to need the extractor tuned more precisely too or you see a lot of stoppages with the bullet driven into the ramp. Ive never seen that with the Colt.

Im still not seeing how a Colt style barrel would work in a gun cut for the ramped barrel. There will be a "hole" under the ramp on the Colt style barrel where the ramp in the frame should be. Just seems like it would be an issue with any kind of reliable feeding.

Not saying it wont work, but if the extractor has the least bit of slop in it, and that bullet has the least bit nose down attitude, Im thinking things could get ugly.

the truth is it did not work in the TISAS, but did work in my COLT. I had no problems there, and thanks for the Mag thing , I have 8 mags for the 9 but was for the COLT style barrel, will just have to check them. I do not know there was a difference, but again time will tell
