I got a lb of Titegroup from Midsouth this week and noticed today that Hodgdon has some load data for it in .223 and .308. I loaded up 3 rounds with 8gr and 168gr bullet and went to the range. It was very pleasant to shoot, but of course didn't group well and shot several inches low.

Hodgdon only has data for 168s, would you use the same load with 150gr bullet? They also have data for it in .223, would that cycle an AR?

The 150 would probably be safe. Try it at your own risk.

No way it will cycle a .223 AR.

It won't cycle, because gas-operated firearms depend on enough gas pressure & volume further down the barrel where the gas port in located in the barrel.

Typical large charges of rifle powder can produce that.

Your little charge of TiteGroup just kicks the bullet in the butt hard enough to get it down range.

There is hardly any bore pressure left to cycle the action by the time the bullet passes the gas port.
