Sen. Jackson To Introduce Bill On Permitted Handguns In Places That Sell Alcohol
posted January 8, 2008

State Sen. Doug Jackson, D-Dickson, said he will introduce a bill today to allow persons with handgun carry permits to carry their weapons into establishments that sell alcohol and a bill requiring local governments to be responsible for all actual medical costs of any judgment or award against them.

SB0023 allows anyone who "has a permit to carry a handgun to carry (it) in places where alcohol is served for consumption on premises," as long as the person is not consuming alcohol and as long as the owners of the premises have not banned weapons from the premises and posted proper notification of the ban.

SB0038 "requires local governments to be responsible for the payment of any judgment or award against them for all actual medical costs even if such costs exceed the applicable liability limits under the Governmental Tort Liability Act."

We can not only carry in liquor stores and bars in Colorado, but drink, too, as long as our blood alcohol content remains below .08%, the same standard that applies to driving.

I advise my students not to drink and carry, but within reason, it happens to be perfectly legal.

It's never been a problem. I'm sure it never will be.

Even if this bill passes,as Standing Wolf points out ,its going the extra mile to be PC.
What is the problem with so many Southern states when it comes to guns and alcohol?Including my own,Florida.Must be the lingering effects of the Temperance Movement that resulted in that dismal disaster,Prohibition.

here in texas if you have alcohol on your breath or in your system that is breaking the law for a CCW.and youll lose your CCW.which i guess it makes some sense,as you all know that alcohol makes some people braver. me , im a old cogger and try very hard to avoid conflict, but will defend myself to the fullest means if backed into a corner.PLZ check your state laws before carrying and drinking
