To tune or not to tune?

Hello,

I have a Colt New Frontier in .44 Special that was manufactured circa 1981, which I believe makes it ‘3rd generation.’ It shoots fine and spent cases are not difficult to eject. However, the trigger (to my amateur senses) feels a bit stiff and the grips are poorly fitted. I am considering sending it off for a proper tune-up and to have new grips fitted.

Would greatly appreciate recommendations for reputable gunsmiths and services to consider..

The New Frontier stocks always looked
cheap and replacing them is never a
bad idea. Stocks on Colt SAA/NF may
require some fitting as the dimensions
of the grip frame can vary gun to gun.

As to the action, perhaps all that's needed
is a shim at the bottom of the hammer
mainspring. You can Google to find
out more about this easy "fix."
