Today at the gun shop(s)

So I went to a couple local gun shops. One I didn't even know was around and a bigger one that's pretty well known around here (not Whittakers). Browsing the pistols looking for a 4" XD.45 or one of those sexy Black Stainless SA 1911s. A guy walks in, says pretty loudly, "I've got a question for you guys" then asks "If something similar to 9/11 was to happen again, do you think the government would take away all our guns?" The guys working in the shop didn't even have to think about it. They said "No!" pretty quick. The shop workers were then explaining that the UK was trying to get rid of all .22lr rifles. Then how in some countries when you buy a pistol, you get a suppressor with it. The guy that asked the initial question look dumbfounded. He couldn't believe you got a suppressor for the pistol you buy in some countries.

At gun shop 2, I had to wait about 5 minutes. Only 2 people working, and it was pretty busy. It's a very small place too. I'd say at most 75'x75'. Turns out not too long ago somebody had broken in and stolen about 45 guns, mainly pistols, from him. Again I was looking for a 4" service XD.45 and a Black Stainless SA 1911. He quoted me prices on them, and my jaw dropped. They were comparable to what it would cost if I were to order from Buds in Paris, KY and have them shipped, then paid the FFL transfer fee. I think I found my new local dealer.

Both shops told me the same thing. The 2 guns I wanted are both on back order. They have no idea when they'll be able to get any of either in stock. I was hoping to have a new toy this weekend

You know you wanted a Sig anyway, no worries.

A SIG is on the list. But there are a few other guns higher on the list. I feel every gun owner NEEDS a 1911. So a 1911 is one I'd like to get before the guns I want.

Then get the best of both worlds. Consider the SIG GSR. I've heard great things about them.

I've thought about that. But I like the look of the Black Stainless, and as far as I've found, Sig doesn't do Black Stainless.

Sig calls it their Nitron finish. Not sure what's available in the GSR, but just about every other model comes in it.

They don't look anything alike to me. Top is SA Black Stainless Full Size, Bottom is Sig GSR Revolution Target with Nitron finish.
