Yesterday I enjoyed the outdoors, watching spring unfold, and getting away from the world. (the world of people) I chose to carry the Osage Indian bow, and the Rossi .357 carbine. I actually did not carry a pistol this time. Kind of getting into taking the bow instead. But it was weird, I don't even remember ever going into the woods without a sidearm.
The blades I carried were the fillet knife, the "Jungle Commando", and of course my Kamp King boy scout knife. Also a multi-tool in the pack.
Coffee break time. It was a little windy, so I found me a thick patch of little trees to break the wind so I could cook up my coffee. Them Indians was pretty smart. Packing the bow like this works really good. Slung over the shoulder it does not flop around or get in the way. Does not interfere with carrying the rifle. A good piece of kit, and silent but deadly. Much more subtle way of taking small game, without popping off a pistol and alerting the big game.
For lunch I found this little hidey hole to block the wind, ate my Spam sammich, and made MORE COFFE. Made the coffee with pond water, but I boiled it really good.
The Rossi is a good looking rifle. Well...it looks like a...Winchester!!! Man it carries nice, like most Winchesters. My ammo load was ten in the rifle, five extra .357 rounds, (200 grain GC hard cast bullet over a ton of WW296) and five of my hot "+P" .38spl loads that I shot off at a fence post just to see where they were hitting. They hit a bit low. That is as dark as I was able to get that stock stained, but the wood actually has a decent grain to it. Anyhow, saw two deer, and two giant Tom Turkeys.
