Today was the opening day for a new gun range down the street from where I live. It is so close that I can see the range from my house! I have been really excited about this for several months since my local gun shop started work on building a range. For the past few years I have been driving 35 minutes to a private club to avoid per hour charges from typical ranges. This new range offers quarterly or annual memberships that include all range fees at a fairly reasonable price. I already shoot quite a bit but I have been reloading like crazy since the annoucement and today I became member 0001. If that isn't enough, my wife offered to pay for the membership! Her angle was that I wouldn't be gone nearly as long without all the driving. Fine with me. I put 300 rounds down range and had an friggin blast doing it. Today was a good day.

Another Good Day!

I got off work early today and the family was out and about so I figured, why not go to the range? I had a free gift card for a local restaurant so after a huge meal I went and popped off another 200 rounds of .40S&W. It is friggin awesome having a membership to a range that close! However, I've shot 500 rounds in the last 72 hours. I may need to pace myself a bit.

Member #1!!??? wow you must be very close :) was there others there ?

Sunday was the first official day that paying customers could shoot and I got there not long after they opened. There were other people shooting but I guess they were just paying the hourly rate.

Sounds like a good time.

As to the comment about the underground range, our local pool has a shooting range underneath it used by police and their guests. It was located right in the city park. It was closed because of lead concerns as well as overall air quality. I am sure that it had something to do with the fact that guns were in such close proximity to children.

Sounds great! Take the wifey out on a shopping spree or dinner for the nice gesture.

Better yet, take her to the range! :neener:

Congrats! Being member number 1 is kinda neat.

It's always nice when the significant other buys you something firearm related or happily participates with you, isn't it? I texted the same "Today was a good day" bit to a friend a couple of weeks ago when the girlfriend surprised me with 200 rounds for the ar and a 1000 bulk pack of 22's and asked if we could go shooting all day with my kids.

Wow, that's almost too close.

Never too close! My good friend has a shooting bench outside of his garage's back door, which still isn't too close.

I bet you can't wipe that grin off your face! :D So, now...take a step back...take a beep breath...doesn't it feel good for life to grant you a gift!? After you've rubbed the new off the thrill, pace your shooting a bit so it doesn't get old to you...but never stop! Too cool...a range right down the road! I thought mine was close...15 minutes...and I still can't seem to get there! Too much of a work list. :fire:

So, you go have fun! We'll be thinking of you. :D

Congrats Five. You probably want to buy back some of the brass you sold me now?? Right?? No problem, at a slight profit, we could work something out?? HA HA....Billl.....

Since you're a fellow Kentuckian, where might this range be? I do most of my shooting on my parents' farm, but in the winter, I usually go up to Shooters in Independence.

I have a better idea. Why don't I just invite you down (it's not that far) and we can shoot some of yours and some of mine? Ghitch75 bought a ton of brass from me too and he also lives up there somewhere. Maybe we should invite him and you guys could carpool (just thinking green). That way, we can all go broke together.

By the way Bill, I think now you know why I bought a truck load of mixed brass earlier this year! I have about 6-8K .40 brass on hand and a bunch of .38 as well. That sounded like a lot until this place opened!

Regarding the location, I'm just paranoid enough to not give the name and street address since I basically live next door. Sorry.
