She did well! She's shot about 3 matches with me before and is very accurate and smooth. She usually shoots my Ruger MKIII 22/45 with Volquartsen guts and a 1911 panel mod, but this time she wanted to shoot "something bigger" We worked a few days before testing out some pistols and she couldn't decide between the M&P CORE 9L and my SIG P226 9mm. I figured I'd bring both and let her pick when we got there.

Unfortunately, as is my wont, I FORGOT THE SIG. Brought the mags, mag pouches, belt, holster, ammo, loader... but not the dang pistol. D'oh!!

Luckily I did remember to throw in the Ruger 22/45 as a "backup" so she shot that one again. She beat 17 people and shot really well.

I actually placed first overall shooting the CORE 9L in Open division, which may be the first time that has happened. I've placed first in my division before but usually get beat by a couple fast guys in other divisions overall.

FUN!

I absolutely treasure the days that I get to take my daughter to the range. At 6, she's a little young to be shooting competitions, but has a hoot shooting her stainless Ruger Bearcat and Browning 1911-22, while I shoot bigger things.

Good 'Ol Boy

Might be worth saving those pics to show to future potential boyfriends.

I was thinking the same exact thing! Save Dad some time from having to dig a moat around the house!

Definitely a great day for both of you at the match! You're doing a fine job of parenting; keep up the good work!

My little girl grew up in Wyoming hunting, shooting, fishing in the outdoors. She had a custom bolt action rifle and a revolver. I sent her off to college one day. She met a fellow who never hunted and didn't know a Winchester from a Wingmaster. They married and moved to Dallas, Texas. She became a Big city gal and a soccer mom.

But DNA is a powerful thing. My Grandson comes to Wyoming and loves all the outdoor things. He is an advanced Junior handgun competitor and a rifleman. I will be giving him a new Colt AR 15 for Xmas. The stars are once more aligned for Grandpa. :)

Easy on the eyes and smart to ! We need a lot more like her in our future.

Well I never heard about "Child Services"? We are actually so far back in the Rocky Mtns. that we are not familiar with that company. Is that a bunch of young fellows that work on Jeeps and old trucks?:D

I'm into great grand daughters now. The eight year old and I have been shooting co2 pistols in the back yard after school now that her hands are large enough to hold a pistol. She has become a pretty good shot and can really burn through the co2. I think it's time to put a 22 in her hands as she has the firearms safety thing pretty well in hand also.

It seems to be more fun now as I have more time to devote to her than I did with her mother and grandmother.

That's terrific OP, nothing like spending some true quality time together. Our youngest went to matches with me for several years helping with taping targets, setting up and earing down stages, etc., before he started shooting with me last year. He started with a Hi Power but it's a little too big for him, this year I set him up with a new Springfield EMP4 9mm, it's a perfect fit for him. We shoot action pistol, action rifle and 3 gun, we try to get to at least one match a month and always have a good time together, and they are great learning experiences for him as well. Wish more guys had their kids shooting with them but we don't see other teens very often.

Awesome. Sad that in some school districts, his shirt would be considered grounds for expulsion or at least "hate speech.":thumbdown:

That's the little girl that used to ride on the back of the Bike in full leathers?
Damn, I'm old. o_O

Too bad about the Red Sox hat though. :neener:
