I got a 500ct box of 240gr smk for cheap. Was planning on just using them as subs in the 300blk. Decided to throw some charges. I ran 71/72 gr loaded at 3.000” cbto which is about 20thou off the lands in my sendero. I was getting 2760fps with them. Gave me some extractor swipes but nothing crazy. Loaded 5 at 70gr and they shot pretty well at 500m. Then I loaded 15 up at sierras accuracy load of 66gr( theirs is 65.8gr, I rounded up) they were giving me 2630fps. Loaded at 3.535”. Shot most of them at the 990yd silhouette. Hit a few of them. The ones I missed was windage. Was shooting a bit right.
I think I’m going to do a seating depth test at 69gr. I was shooting these in mixed rem/fc brass I use for hunting rounds. At 500m they were stacking them on top of each other. I usually shoot 190smk of either 70 or 72.5gr h4831sc. 72.5gr gets me 2960fps. It’s a stout load but shoots stupid well.
I’m gonna get another box while the guy has the 240s. At least that way I’ll have plenty.
Also got the greyboe stock in and on the sendero. Love the feel of it now.
Also took the remington tactical 223 out. Was popping soda cans at 700m with 75gr over n540 that give me 3006fps average over 10 rounds.
Was a good day. Range to myself and was only 90deg out.
