no, saying that the kid has a real gun would only prove that these people are fanatics.
and like any media source, the AP couldnt let the truth get out to the masses.

Hard to tell from that pic, the bottom of the Mag and the Flash Hider don't look quite right so I'd say it's a 50/50 chance it's real

If you look closely, you can see a mold seam on the bottom of the grip. Also, the mag bottom isn't showing rounds. I'd say toy.

News Flash, the grips on an AR ARE platic, there ARE mold seams. If you are referring to the foreend, there are a line of vent holes.

Smart money would be for that being a real carbine.

little closer view

Look at the trigger---very thin, not much travel capacity. I see plastic molding lines along the bayonet mount. The front handguard is mounted sideways. There is tape around the carrying handle---and a metal one wouldn't break, unless you got a jam and tried to "Pogo stick" the round out of it with the charging handle.

The gun's a toy.

Regardless that it is a toy, they are still fanatics.

Vote for Toy:

The grip looks like a toy version of the M16A1 grip (with hole for sling swivel)

What's the deal with those handguards? Why would the holes be on the sides?

FSP looks odd too.

Look at the underside of the carrying-handle: wrapped in 100mph tape, which makes about zero sense on a real gun.

Good blowup, eerw.

My vote is for toy gun, real mag, I'd still shoot the guy who pointed it at me tho. even looking it over super close I can't fully tell, it could be a functional gun made to look like a kids toy. or a real gun that has been fixed using airsoft parts when the real ones broke. (handguards, grip etc)

Toy Gun

It's fake!

If that Palastinian boy had a real gun it would be an AK-47 or some variation of it. Also he would be firing it in the air and shouting "Death to America! Death to the infidels!"

It's fake, no doubt about it. Add to the fact there's probably no M-16s where that kid is at.

It really doesn't matter if the gun is real or not. The hatred in the kid's eyes is real, and it is hatred of us. When (not if) he gets a real gun, he will be prepared to kill us.

Jim

I'd say the pistol grip is the give-away.

But there are in fact plenty of M-16's over there.

And if a person looked back through old photos of settlers, you'd probably see lots of 'fanatics'. Blame the people for what they say, and do, and say they want to do, but don't call them fanatics just because they have firearms. Surely you can see the slippery slope you're standing on when you do that.

Real or fake - does it matter.

The point is that the Palestinians are filling the kids with hate. This will make peace IMPOSSIBLE. (Not that I believe in world peace anyway.)

Luke

Yeah, that's the bottom of the mag. Otherwise he would've taped over the catch. And you can see the top tapers a little.
The tape around the carry handle appears to be securing an optic.
The handgaurd catch/release looks fake.
If he pointed it at me I'd smoke him.
